An apparatus for forming a pattern of a nanoparticle-based ink on a substrate has a printing apparatus that is energizable to deposit the nanoparticle-based ink in a pattern on a surface of the substrate. An illumination apparatus is energizable to direct a patterned illumination to cure the deposited ink pattern on the substrate, the illumination apparatus having an array having at least a first and a second laser diode, each laser diode coupled to a channel in a laser light coupling element through an optical fiber and having an illumination lens disposed to direct illumination from the coupling element onto the surface of the substrate. A transport apparatus is energizable to provide relative motion between the substrate and the illumination apparatus.

Method for depositing and curing nanoparticle-based ink

A viewing device and method are provided for use with an image transparency having an associated tracking memory. The viewing device has a display adapted to present at least two illumination patterns, a reader device for obtaining data stored in a tracking memory of an image transparency positioned proximate to the display surface, and a control processing unit. The control processing unit is adapted to receive the obtained data and to generate more than one illumination pattern with a first of the illumination patterns formed for passing through the transparency and second of the illumination patterns formed for viewing on the display without passing through the transparency, wherein the appearance of at least one of the illumination patterns is determined based upon the data obtained from the tracking memory.

Viewing device

A digital display apparatus () using a spatial light modulator () projects a monochrome or multicolor image onto a display surface () for diagnostic imaging applications. The image can be displayed on a direct-view display surface () or, with the image mirrored, on a display screen. A single spatial light modulator () could serve for all component colors, with multiplexed color channels. Alternately, additional spatial light modulators () could be used, either to obtain higher image resolution or to improve speed and performance. An optional variable filter () could be used to selectively control the relative transmission level of color components for successive color components.

An apparatus and method of printing images () onto a photosensitive media () using multiple reflective spatial light modulators. A preselected lenticular image is created by capturing a first digital image on a plurality of first charged coupled device (CCD) sensor columns (). A second digital image is created on a plurality of second CCD sensor columns (). The first and second digital images are stored in an interleaved fashion and previewed on a lenticular screen () attached to a camera ().

Method and apparatus for creating a preselected lenticular image

An apparatus for printing images including an illumination optics ( ) that provides uniform area light is disclosed. A prism ( ) is located at a first position and receives the uniform area light and refracts the light. A method of reducing the appearance of speckle resulting from a coherent light beam, includes the steps of: providing an electro-optic device having, an electro-optic substrate, an electrode array arranged on the surface of the electro-optic substrate, at least one electrode located on the opposite surface of the electro-optic substrate, and means for applying voltage to the electrodes to generate a variation in a refractive index profile within the substrate; and directing the light beam through the electro-optic device while applying voltage to the device, whereby the temporal and spatial phase of a light beam passing through the substrate is altered, thereby reducing the appearance of speckle.

A method and apparatus for printing multiple simultaneous images onto a photosensitive media comprises the steps of imaging light from a light source through an optics assembly ( ) to a polarization beamsplitter ( ). The polarization beamsplitter ( ) produces light having a first polarized state and light having a second polarized state. The first polarized light is directed to a first spatial light modulator ( ). The first spatial light modulator is addressed with a first signal to create a first modulated light beam, which is imaged through a print lens assembly onto the photosensitive media. The second spatial light modulator is addressed with a second signal to create a second modulated light beam, which is imaged through the print lens onto the photosensitive media. The first modulated light beam and the second modulated light beam create at least two simultaneous images on the photosensitive media.
