An inkjet ink and an intermediate transfer medium for inkjet printing are disclosed herein. During inkjet printing, the inkjet ink forms ink drops having a contact angle (&#x3b8;) of less than or equal to 50&#xb0; on the intermediate transfer medium, where the contact angle (&#x3b8;) reduces or substantially eliminates coalescence of adjacent ink drops. The contact angle (&#x3b8;) may be obtained by controlling a property of the inkjet ink and/or a property of the surface of the intermediate transfer medium.

A method of forming a crossed wire molecule device comprising a plurality of bottom electrodes, a plurality of top electrodes crossing the bottom electrodes at a non-zero angle, and a self-assembled molecular film chemically bonded to a surface of each of the bottom electrodes is provided. The self-assembled molecular film includes one or more defect sites and a plurality of active device molecules, each of the plurality of active device molecules including a molecular switching moiety having a self-assembling connecting group at one end of the moiety and a linking group at an opposed end of the moiety. The polymeric material chemically bonds to at least some of the linking groups of the plurality of active device molecules, causing the formation of the self-assembled molecular layer covering the plurality of active device molecules and the defect site(s). A three-dimensional molecular assembly and method of formation are provided. The molecular assembly is formed on a substrate. The molecular assembly comprises: a first monolayer of seed molecules for initiating self-assembled molecular growth, the first monolayer formed on the substrate; a second monolayer of active molecules comprising a plurality of rotor and stator moieties, with one rotor moiety supported between two stator moieties, the second monolayer of active molecules formed on the first monolayer of seed molecules, with a one-to-one correspondence between molecules in the first monolayer and the second monolayer; a third monolayer of spacer molecules, formed on the second monolayer of active molecules, with a one-to-one correspondence between molecules in the second monolayer and the third monolayer; and a plurality of alternating second monolayers and third monolayers having the one-to-one correspondence.

A method includes chemically bonding a polymeric material to a self-assembled molecular film that is chemically bonded to a surface of a substrate. The self-assembled molecular film includes one or more defect sites and a plurality of active device molecules, each of the plurality of active device molecules including a molecular switching moiety having a self-assembling connecting group at one end of the moiety and a linking group at an opposed end of the moiety. The polymeric material chemically bonds to at least some of the linking groups of the plurality of active device molecules, causing the formation of the self-assembled molecular layer covering the plurality of active device molecules and the defect site(s).

A system and method of capturing a skin print from skin having ridges and valleys. A skin print sensor having a return/supply contact and a plurality of contact pads is provided. A finger is applied to the skin print sensor and data is stored representative of contact pads in contact with skin ridges.

The present invention pertains to an apparatus and method for automatically disabling cell phone ringing and/or cell phone beeping. An RF transmitter is used to transmit an RF non-audible mode or control signal. Upon receiving the non-audible mode or control signal, the cell phone and/or beeper automatically disables its audible alarm. Users are notified of incoming calls and/or pages by means of blinking lights or vibration. When the user no longer receives the non-audible mode or control signal or upon the elapse of a fixed, pre-determined amount of time, the cell phone and/or beeper automatically reverts back to its normal mode of operation whereby incoming calls and pages are indicated by cell phone ringing and pager beeping.

Apparatus and method for automatically disabling cell phone ringing

Methods and apparatus for packing, including single pixel data strings, and playback tracking of informative data, e.g., audio signals, associated with graphics. To maximize the signal-to-noise ratio during data recovery, a Read sensor is kept substantially on-center of each data block throughout reading. A Print-and-Read ink-jet embodiment carriage mechanism in conjunction with the paper feed mechanism keeps the Read sensor on track center as misalignment information has been determined beforehand or in real time for active track servoing. Additional functionalities are incorporated in scanning ink-jet class of printers so that they can further operate as informative data recovery or retrieval systems for digitized data on graphical data images. In another embodiment, a digital camera itself is provided with additional functionalities to operate as a recovery and playback device for prints containing informative data.

Method and apparatus related to informative data associated with graphical image data

An analog, fully integrated, partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) read channel utilizing a high-performance analog delay line, an analog adaptive equalizer and an analog Viterbi detector is provided, resulting in saved space, performance gains, and lower power consumption. For signal detection and reconstruction used in read operations, the partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) read channel includes a variable gain amplifier coupled to a lowpass filter for input to an adaptive analog equalizer. The adaptive analog equalizer comprises an analog delay line and an analog feedforward equalizer (FFE). An analog Viterbi detector employs maximum-likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) techniques to performs the signal detection function. A decoder/descrambler produces a final reconstructed signal. The analog implementation of a partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) read channel also includes a scrambler/encoder coupled to a write precompensation circuit for output to a separate write head.

Signal processing system for reducing error due to intersymbol interference and other noise, the system having a feedforward equalizer adaptively responsive to a first error signal (e.sub.n) and having a noise decorrelator adaptively responsive to an adjusting signal (q.sub.n) derived from the first error signal. In a preferred embodiment the source of the signal (S.sub.n) is a magnetic disk having encoded data thereon. The feedforward equalizer reduces intersymbol interference. A decision device connected to the feedforward equalizer is coupled to connect the signal (X.sub.n) from the feedforward equalizer into a stream (d.sub.n) of data samples having a limited number of predetermined signal levels. The first error signal is the difference between signal levels of data samples in the stream and the output of the feedforward equalizer. The first error signal is utilized to adjust the feedforward equalizer and to provide an input to the noise decorrelator. The noise decorrelator is an adaptive multi-tap assembly having a summing junction at the decorrelator output to provide a predicted noise signal (e.sub.pn) to the output signal of the feedforward equalizer. The adjusting signal which adaptively adjusts tap weights of the noise decorrelator is the difference between the first error signal and the predicted noise signal.
