A backlight module includes a pixel driver integrated circuit (PDIC) configured to generate a switch control signal and a pulse control signal, the pulse control signal including timing information and dimming data, a pixel integrated circuit (PIC) configured to generate a pulse modulation signal based on the pulse control signal, a switch group configured to transfer a driving voltage based on the switch control signal, and a backlight unit (BLU) including a first end connected to the switch group and a second end connected to the PIC, the BLU configured to emit light on a panel based on the driving voltage and the pulse modulation signal, where the PDIC is configured to generate the switch control signal and the pulse control signal such that a light emitting diode emits light at a time point at which a pixel of the panel operates.

Backlight module, display device, and method for driving backlight unit

In a backlight apparatus, a master driving circuit generates a transmission frame including a training period including a clock training pattern and a data period including a plurality of data packets respectively corresponding to the plurality of blocks. A plurality of slave driving circuits correspond to the plurality of blocks, respectively, and are connected to the master driving circuit in a daisy chain structure. Each slave driving circuit receives the transmission frame through the daisy chain structure, recovers a clock based on the clock training pattern, and drives the plurality of light emitting elements included in a corresponding block among the plurality of blocks based on its own data packet among a plurality of data packets.

Backlight apparatus and operating method thereof

A backlight system includes a plurality of pixel ICs respectively including a plurality of channels connected to a plurality of LEDs and that control the LEDs to be turned on and off through the channels, and a driver IC connected to the pixel ICs and that supplies a data signal to each of the pixel ICs. The pixel ICs include a first pixel IC connected to first LEDs and a second pixel IC connected to second LEDs. The first pixel IC turns the first LEDs on or off in a first order based on first control data included in the data signal, and the second pixel IC turns the second LEDs on or off in a second order different from the first order based on second control data included in the data signal.

Disclosed is integrated circuit panel which detects fault of a driving circuit. The integrated circuit panel includes: a driving circuit array including first and second driving circuits; a data driver configured to output first and second input data signals through first and second data lines, respectively; a switch driver configured to output a switching signal through a switch line; and an error detection driver configured to receive first and second output data signals through first and second test lines, respectively, wherein, in response to the switching signal, the first and second driving circuits are configured to output the first and second output data signals, which are based on the first and second input data signal, through the first and second test lines, respectively, and the error detection driver is configured to detect a fault of the first or second driving circuit based on the first or second output data signal.

A backlight system includes a backlight and a master driving circuit. The backlight includes a plurality of slave driving circuits and a plurality of light sources driven by the plurality of slave driving circuits, wherein the plurality of slave driving circuits are arranged in a matrix of driving rows and driving columns such that first through m-th slave driving circuits, where m is a positive integer greater than one, are arranged in each driving row of the driving rows, and the first through m-th slave driving circuits are connected in a daisy chain structure. A display device includes: a cell matrix including a first cell line and a second cell line, wherein the first cell line includes first cells sharing first row lines, and the second cell line includes second cells sharing second row lines; a redundancy integrated circuit including a redundancy cell line including redundancy cells, wherein the redundancy cells share a third row line and are connected to the first and second cells through a plurality of column lines and a plurality of connection lines; and a display driver integrated circuit (DDI) configured to replace the first cell line or the second cell line with the redundancy cell line through the first row lines, the second row lines, and the third row line based on whether the first and second cell lines include a bad cell.
