A treatment method is provided which exhibits a reliable therapeutic effect on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In the treatment method, lung volume is reduced by restraining expansion and contraction of lung parenchyma present in the vicinity of a verge of a lung having an emphysema-suffering part, at least in one site of the verge.

Lung volume reduction method

A fibrosis-causing agent is highly effective in the fibrosis of tissues. The fibrosis-causing agent contains a fibrosis inducer and a fibrosis promoter. A fibrosis-causing agent dosage form and a method of administering the fibrosis-causing agent is also disclosed.

Fibrosis-causing agent

An implant assembly smoothly causes a folded implant to indwell a living body, and which can smoothly expand the implant without causing the implant to be displaced from a predetermined indwelling position when a filling material is injected. The implant assembly has the implant that is configured to be transformable from a folded and contracted state to an expanded state by the introduced filling material, and in which at least a portion of a surface thereof is covered with a covering material m whose friction coefficient increases by coming into contact with a body fluid, and guiding means for preventing the implant and the body fluid of the living body from coming into contact with each other inside the living body, and for guiding the implant to move to the indwelling position inside the living body.

Implant assembly

A medical device includes a tubular body having a first lumen so designed as to receive a fluid from an opening at one end of the first lumen and discharge the fluid from an opening at the other end of the first lumen, and an expandable body attached to the tubular body. The first lumen communicates with the space inside the expandable body and the expandable body expands by the internal pressure of the fluid which is injected from the opening at one end and enters the space inside the expandable body through the first lumen.

Medical device and vascularization method

Disclosed herein is a method for alleviating the condition of spinal canal stenosis, including: transluminally placing a catheter in a lumbar artery, iliolumbar artery or lateral sacral artery at the proximity of a narrowed area of a spinal canal; and injecting a vasodilator into the artery via the catheter.
