The compounds of the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.4 is hydrogen, C.sub.1-6 alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl having up to 4 carbon atoms, phenylallyl, phenyl, benzyl optionally ring-substituted with for example halogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl or alkoxy, nitro, trifluoromethyl, cyano or methylene-dioxy, of alpha-(C.sub.1-4 alkyl) benzyl optionally ring-substituted with for example halogen, and R.sub.5 is C.sub.1-6 alkyl or cycloalkyl having up to 6 carbon atoms; and Z is C.dbd.O or a derivative thereof; or salts of such compounds. The compounds have fungicidal and plant growth regulating properties.

.alpha.-Benzyl-.alpha.-triazolyl pinacolone compounds

Fungicidal compounds of the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which may be the same or different, is hydrogen, halogen, nitro or alkyl (e.g. methyl, ethyl, propyl or butyl); R.sub.3 is hydrogen, alkoxycarbonyl (e.g. methoxy or ethoxy-carbonyl) or substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl or hydrocarboxyloxy, R.sub.4 is phenyl or halophenyl, R.sub.5 is hydrogen, alkanoyl (e.g. acetyl or propionyl) or substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl, n is 0 or 1, R.sub.5 being substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl when n is 0 and R.sub.3 being other than substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl when n is 1; or salts of such compounds.

2-(2-Alkoxyalkyl)-1,2,4-triazole compounds and their use as fungicides

Triazoles of formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is alkenyl, alkynyl or optionally substituted aralkyl; Y is .dbd.N--, R.sub.2 is cycloalkyl, alkyl or haloalkyl, and R.sub.3 is H, methyl or alkenyl, or esters, ethers, salts and metal complexes thereof. The triazoles have fungicidal and plant growth regulating activity.

Fungicidal compounds

Herbicidal compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is a 1(1,2,4-triazolyl)radical or a 1-imidazolyl radical and R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are alkyl or cycloalkyl radicals of 2 to 10 carbon atoms or phenyl or naphthyl radicals optionally bearing specified substituents, and acid addition salts and metal complexes thereof. These compounds are useful as general herbicides and as selective herbicides in maize, rice, soya, sorghum and oil-seed rape.

Azolyl-substituted unsaturated ketones and herbicidal use thereof

A pyrazine compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are hydrogen, or optionally-substituted hydrocarbyl, aryloxy or alkoxy and R.sub.2, additionally may be pyridyl, thienyl or furyl; R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are H, alkyl or aryl or together form a bridging group; Z is: ##STR2## where R.sub.5 is H, alkyl or aryl; and functional derivatives and salts thereof. The compounds are useful for combating fungal or bacterial diseases in plants.

Pyrazine-2-ylmethyl-ketones and their fungicidal use

Plant fungicidal compounds of formula: ##STR1## WHEREIN R.sub.1 is hydrogen, or nitro, R.sub.3 is alkyl, furyl, thienyl or phenyl, R.sub.4 is hydrogen, halogen, nitro, phenyl, alkoxy or alkyl, n is 1, 2 or 3, and Z is C .dbd. O or a derivative thereof; and their salts.

1,2,4-Triazole-containing compounds and their use as pesticides

Plant fungicidal compounds of formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.4 is hydrogen, C.sub.1-6 alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl having up to 4 carbon atoms, phenyl or optionally ring-substituted benzyl or .alpha.-(C.sub.1-4 alkyl)-benzyl, R.sub.5 is hydroxy, C.sub.1-6 alkyl or alkoxy, amino, hydrazino, (C.sub.1-6 alkyl) amino, benzylamino, benzyloxy, cycloalkoxy, cycloalkyl, optionally ring-substituted phenylamino or optionally substituted phenyloxy, Z is C = O or a derivative thereof, or a salt of such a compound.

Fungicidal 1H-1,2,4-triazoles

Fungicidal compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.4 is ethyl or propyl, R.sub.5 is hydroxy, C.sub.1-14 alkoxy, phenylamino, benzyloxy or benzyloxy substituted with halogen and Z is C.dbd.O, or a fungicidal salt of said compound.

Fungicidally effective imidazoles and use thereof against fungal pests

A compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.4 is alkenyl or alkynyl of up to 8 carbon atoms or aralkyl of up to 8 carbon atoms, the aralkyl being optionally substituted with 2 halogen, alkyl of up to 8 carbons, nitro, trifluoromethyl, cyano, methoxy or methylenedioxy, R.sub.5 is cycloalkyl or branched chain alkyl of up to 8 carbon atoms, and Z is C = O, or a fungicidal salt of such compound.
