An endoscope imager includes a system-in-package and a specularly reflective surface. The system-in-package includes (a) a camera module having an imaging lens with an optical axis and (b) an illumination unit. The system-in-package includes (a) a camera module having an imaging lens with an optical axis and (b) an illumination unit configured to emit illumination propagating in a direction away from the imaging lens, the direction having a component parallel to the optical axis. The specularly reflective surface faces the imaging lens and forming an oblique angle with the optical axis, to deflect the illumination toward a scene and deflect light from the scene toward the camera module.

Endoscope imager and associated method

An eye wear comprises an optical filter disposed in front of an eye. The optical filter has a transmittance function of wavelength comprising a transmittance peak having a peak transmittance and a transmittance bandwidth. A transmittance outside the transmittance peak is at a lower level transmittance, wherein a ratio of the lower level transmittance to the peak transmittance is less than unity. The transmittance peak is at a central wavelength of a laser that emits laser light forming one of a laser spot and a laser line. The transmittance bandwidth is larger than a bandwidth of the laser light emitted by the laser. The laser spot or the laser line formed by the laser light emitted by the laser is viewed through the eye wear.

A 3D imaging system comprises a phase detection autofocus (PDAF) image sensor, a lens for imaging a cross-section of a 3D object on the PDAF image sensor and an actuator for driving the lens for focusing each cross-section of the 3D object on the PDAF image sensor. The actuator drives the lens until the PDAF image sensor identifies an image of a first cross-section of the 3D object in-focus and records the image of the first cross-section. The PDAF image sensor records images of subsequent cross-sections of the 3D object formed by the lens driven by the actuator on the PDAF image sensor. The recorded images of each cross-section of the 3D object are stacked to form a 3D image of the 3D object.

A display system comprises a first display for providing a first value and a second display for providing a second value. The displayed image is a product of multiplication of the first value provided by the first display and the second value provided by the second display. The first display is a transmissive display comprises: a first glass substrate, an unpatterned ITO layer, a LC layer, a patterned ITO layer having isolated electrodes, and a second glass substrate. The second display is a reflective LCOS comprises: a glass substrate, an unpatterned ITO layer, a LC layer, a metal electrode layer, and a silicon substrate.

Methods and systems for displaying high dynamic range images

A surface plasmon resonance biosensor comprises: a prism, an incident light incident to a side of the prism and reflected at the side of the prism, the incident light comprising a first incident light having a first incident angle and a second incident light having a second incident angle, and a detector comprising pixels for detecting the incident light reflected at the side of the prism, where positions of pixels of the detector correspond to incident angles of the incident light, and where positions of pixels of the detector are calibrated by at least the first incident light having the first incident angle and the second incident light having the second incident angle.

Auto-calibration surface plasmon resonance biosensor

A disposable micro-prism test chip for surface plasmon resonance measurement comprises a micro-tray and a micro-prism mounted on the micro-tray. The micro-tray and the micro-prism form at least one cell for providing a fluid dielectric medium for measurement. The disposable micro-prism test chip also comprises a thin metal layer coated on the surface of the micro-prism in the formed cell between the fluid dielectric medium and the micro-prism. The micro-tray may have at least one through window for forming the at least one cell. The micro-tray may also have a half-through cavity facing the micro-prism. The disposable micro-prism test chip is disposed after at least one use. The micro-prism may be fabricated by pulling a heated preform, where the preform has the same cross-section as that of the pulled micro-prism.

A projector and associated method allows adaptor-less smartphone eye imaging. The projector includes at least two line generators for projecting a pattern onto a face of a subject, and a structure for positioning the line generators relative to a camera of the smartphone. The pattern facilitates positioning of the smartphone relative to the subject's eye such that an image of the eye captured by the camera is optimal for evaluation.

A fluorescence imaging module includes an image sensor and a lens disposed between a fluorescence sample and the image sensor to focus a fluorescence image of the fluorescence sample onto the image sensor. The fluorescence sample is to be positioned an object distance away from the lens. The lens is positioned an image distance away from the image sensor. The image distance is greater than the object distance. An illuminating device is disposed between the fluorescence sample and the lens. The illuminating device includes a light source and an optical element. The light source is adapted to emit light in a first direction towards the optical element. The optical element is optically coupled to receive the light and redirect the light in a second direction towards the fluorescence sample to illuminate the fluorescence sample.

A laser aligning device is mounted on the flat side of a putter grip or other cylindrically asymmetric surface of a club grip and emits a fan shaped light sheet. The light sheet is perpendicular to the flat side of the putter grip. The light sheet projects a visible laser line on a plane such as the ground when the head is on the same plane. The alignment of the grip relative to the putter head's face can be inspected by visually inspecting the orientation of the projected line on the plane relative to the head's face. The grip can be adjusted and fixed so that it is properly oriented to the face.

A display magnifier for digital cameras is removably mounted to a camera using a screw tightened into a standard threaded tripod hole under the camera. A photographer views the display through the magnifier. When it is not in use, the magnifier can be folded for saving storage space and ease in carrying. The magnifier will not only magnify but also brighten since the magnifying lens will collect more light than the naked eye. Additionally, the screw may have a threaded hole in its head to allow the tripod screw to mate with it.

A training putter with a laser line projecting device can be used for putting training to improve putting skill. The device is affixed to a putter head above its sweet spot, and emits a vertical light fan which projects a line on the around normal to the face of the putter head. The line is aligned with the sweet spot of the putter head and lies on the ground to connect the top of a golf ball with a target, such as a cup or a putting hole, so that alignment can be easily visualized. The device can be detached and reattached easily without any laser alignment. Furthermore, the device can be removably mounted to a user's own putter. The heat generated in the laser diode is quickly dissipated through the metal housing, the metal putter head, and the metal shaft to the surrounding air. Since proper operating temperature of the laser diode can be maintained, the laser diode will operate properly, which means the power of the emitted light will not be decreased, and the lifetime of the diode will not be shortened.

A laser diode ( ) emits astigmatic and elliptical light. The long axis of ellipse is the fast axis of light, and the short axis of ellipse is the slow axis of light. A collimating lens ( ) first collimates the slow-axis light. Following the collimating lens ( ), a first cylindrical lens ( ) focuses the un-collimated fast-axis light. The focused fast-axis light then diverges and reaches a second cylindrical lens ( ). The second cylindrical lens ( ) collimates the fast-axis light. The collimated slow-axis light is unaffected by both cylindrical lenses. The beam-waist of the fast-axis light is substantially equal to the beam-waist of the slow-axis light by properly designing the focal lengths of both cylindrical lenses. The second cylindrical lens ( ) outputs an astigmatic-aberration-free, circular collimated-beam. The corrected beam is then input to a low-feedback-noise fiber collimator ( ), resulting in a fiber-coupled laser diode having both high coupling-efficiency and low feedback-noise.
