An optical lens for a light source has an incidence surface receiving light rays emitted from a light source and an aspherical emitting surface optically coupled with the incidence surface for receiving light rays from the incidence surface and emitting light rays received from the incidence surface. The incidence surface defines a cavity for receiving the light source. An opaque or semi-opaque bottom surface adjoins the incidence surface and emitting surface. A lighting device has a substrate, a lighting source located on the substrate, and the optical lens located with the substrate and enclosing the lighting device. A strip light has an elongate substrate having light sources and respective lenses distributed longitudinally along the substrate. Such a strip light using the lens is suitable for lighting the interior of a commercial or domestic refrigerator, chillier cabinet, or other enclosure.

Optical lens and lighting device

Ultra-precision freeform surfaces are important to the development of complex and micro-optical-electro-mechanical devices used in many photonics and telecommunication products such as F-theta lenses for laser printers. These surfaces are complex and large scale surface topologies with shapes that generally possesses no rotational symmetry. Due to the geometrical complexities of these ultra-precision freeform surfaces, it is difficult to characterize the form accuracy and surface quality of freeform optical surfaces. The method of this invention is based on feature-point pre-fixture, and iterative precision alignment algorithm, which can provide sufficient capability of form characterization for ultra-precision freeform surfaces with form accuracy down to below sub-micrometer range

Methods and apparatus of aligning surfaces

A collimation lens system for converging the light from an LED into a light beam, includes a central lens aligned along the optical axis of the LED for converging inner light from the LED, the central lens including an aspheric collimation plano convex lens having a planar entrance surface and an aspheric exit surface; and a peripheral lens surrounding the central lens for converging outer light from the LED, the peripheral lens including a total internal reflection collimation lens having an entrance surface and an exit surface and including a high order aspheric total internal reflection surface for reflecting the outer light by total internal reflection. The central lens and the peripheral lens share a common focal point at which the LED may be positioned.
