A device comprises a radio frequency (RF) signal generator and a calibration system. The RF signal generator is configured to upconvert a baseband signal to an RF signal using first and second LO signals. The RF signal generator comprises first and second signal paths to process first and second differential signals. The calibration system comprises calibration control circuitry and actuator circuitry. In response to digital control signals generated by the calibration control circuitry, the actuator circuitry is configured to: inject currents into the first and second signal paths to adjust offsets of the first and second differential signals, and to balance amplitudes of the first and second differential signals; and adjust at least one of respective duty cycles of the first and second local oscillator signals, and a phase difference between the first and second local oscillator signals.

One or more systems, devices and/or methods of use provided herein relate to a baseband filter that can be used in a current-mode end-to-end signal path. The current-mode end-to-end signal path can include a digital to analog converter (DAC) operating in current-mode and an upconverting mixer, operating in current-mode and operatively coupled to the DAC. In one or more embodiments, a device used in the signal path can comprise a baseband filter that receives an input current and outputs an output current. The baseband filter can comprise a feedback loop component having an active circuit branch and a passive circuit branch coupled in a loop. A mirroring device can be coupled to the feedback loop component and can provide an output of the device. Selectively activating the mirroring device can vary gain, such as of the mirroring device.

Transport networks, network elements, and methods of use are described herein, including a transmitter comprising a client-side input, transmitter circuitry, and antennas. The client-side input is configured to receive baseband signals having client data encoded therein. The transmitter circuitry is configured to receive the baseband signals from the client-side input and generate antenna feed signals based on the baseband signals. The antennas are configured to receive the antenna feed signals from the transmitter circuitry, generate radiated signals based on the antenna feed signals, and couple the radiated signals into a hollow waveguide. Each of the radiated signals is a radiated electromagnetic wave configured for coherent detection and has a frequency in a range between 300 Gigahertz (GHz) and 10 Terahertz (THz).

A variable-gain power amplifying technique includes generating, with a network of one or more reactive components included in an oscillator, a first oscillating signal, and outputting, via one or more taps included in the network of the reactive components, a second oscillating signal. The second oscillating signal has a magnitude that is proportional to and less than the first oscillating signal. The power amplifying technique further includes selecting one of the first and second oscillating signals to use for generating a power-amplified output signal, and amplifying the selected one of the first and second oscillating signals to generate the power-amplified output signal.

In described examples, a quadrature phase shifter includes digitally programmable phase shifter networks for generating leading and lagging output signals in quadrature. The phase shifter networks include passive components for reactively inducing phase shifts, which need not consume active power. Output currents from the transistors coupled to the phase shifter networks are substantially in quadrature and can be made further accurate by adjusted by a weight function implemented using current steering elements. Example low-loss quadrature phase shifters described herein can be functionally integrated to provide low-power, low-noise up/down mixers, vector modulators and transceiver front-ends for millimeter wavelength (mmwave) communication systems.

Analog inputs and outputs of the DAC and upconverting mixer can be represented as currents, and the DAC can generate a baseband signal. The DAC and upconverting mixer each can comprise switching transistors of the same type, such as p-type metal-oxide semiconductor (PMOS) switching transistors. In one or more embodiments, a current source and a diode-connected transistor can be arranged in parallel in the current-mode signal path, and the current source passes a static current, while the diode-connected transistor passes both a static current and a dynamic current.
