Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for receiver side protection in sidelink communications. In certain aspects, a method performed by an apparatus generally includes obtaining, from a first user equipment (UE), first control information, which includes a first resource allocation information of one or more resources allocated for transmission by the first UE to the apparatus and an indication of a first cell associated with the first UE. The method generally includes obtaining, from a second UE, second control information, which generally includes a second resource allocation information of resources allocated for transmission by the second UE to the apparatus and an indication of a second cell associated with the second UE. The method generally includes determining, based on the first and second control information, potential interference from transmissions by the first UE and the second UE and taking one or more actions to mitigate the potential interference.

Receiver side protection with resource forwarding in sidelink

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for dynamic resource avoidance and slot aggregation. The described techniques enable a user equipment (UE) in a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) system to select resources for varying transmission of a data packet (e.g., over multiple slots). The UE may determine a set of candidate transmission time intervals (TTIs) for transmission of the data packet based on a resource map, which may involve selecting resources that are unoccupied by other UEs as indicated by the resource map or preempting other UEs based on traffic priority or latency. The UE may transmit a reservation indication indicating resources to be reserved for subsequent transmissions (e.g., retransmission) and a UE receiving the reservation indication may update its resource map.

Resource reservation techniques for wireless communications

An apparatus decodes sidelink control information to obtain resource reservation information for sidelink communication. The apparatus maintains a mapping of the resource reservation information. The apparatus reports information comprised in the mapping to a base station.

Sidelink procedure of enabling resource conflict avoidance in resource allocation

An improved manner of transmitting and receiving messages in V2X/V2V/D2D is presented in which a transmitting device determines a geographic location of the mobile transmitting device and generates a message for a service group having a group ID associated with the service group, the message comprising a first indication of a geographic area associated with the message, the geographic area based at least in part on the geographic location of the transmitting device. Then, the apparatus transmits the message to the service group, e.g., via V2X/V2V/D2D communication. A receiving device then determines its geographic location and determines whether to send a feedback for the message based on the first indication of the geographic area associated with the message and the geographic location of the receiving device.

Aspects relate to managing a device-to-device communication link via radio resource control (RRC) layer signaling. In an example operation, a first wireless communication device establishes a unicast link with a second wireless communication device over a device-to-device communication interface and determines that the unicast link is to be reconfigured with at least one updated parameter. The first wireless communication device then sends a link reconfiguration request to the second wireless communication device via a first RRC message over the communication interface. The first RRC message includes the at least one updated parameter. The first wireless communication device receives a link reconfiguration response from the second wireless communication device via a second RRC message over the communication interface based on the link reconfiguration request and determines whether to reconfigure the unicast link using the at least one updated parameter based on the received link reconfiguration response.

Unicast link management via radio resource control signaling

Aspects relate to mechanisms for measuring the interference on the sidelink for use in calculating the channel quality indicator (CQI) in channel state information (CSI) reporting. Channel state information-interference measurement (CSI-IM) resources on which a sidelink device may measure the interference may be located outside of a bandwidth allocated for the transmission of a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) and/or inside of the allocated bandwidth. The sidelink device may measure respective interference values on one or more CSI-IM resources, identify one or more CQI(s) based on the measured interference value(s) and transmit one or more CSI reports including the one or more CQIs to another sidelink device.

Interference measurement for sidelink

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for using physical resource blocks (PRBs) of a sidelink resource pool that, in some cases, might not belong to a sub-channel in sidelink or are assigned to a special sub-channel. When a user equipment (UE) is transmitting a sidelink communication, the sidelink communication often takes place in resource pools that include sub-channels in frequency domain and slots in a time domain. A first subset of PRBs of the resource pool may be assigned to one or more sub-channels in the frequency domain. The disclosed methods, devices, and systems provide for identifying PRBs not assigned to the first subset (e.g., remaining or unused PRBs or PRBs assigned to a special sub-channel). In some aspects of the present disclosure, the UE may use these PRBs for various purposes.

Techniques for using physical resource blocks (PRBS) in a sidelink resource pool

Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a first user equipment (UE) performs a limited beam sweep of one or more transmit beams on a second frequency band in an estimated direction from the first UE to the second UE, wherein the estimated direction is based on one or more parameters received over a previously established signaling radio bearer (SRB) on a first frequency band and/or a device-to-device discovery procedure performed on the first frequency band, receives, over the SRB, a confirmation that a data radio bearer (DRB) has been established on the second frequency band with at least one transmit beam of the one or more transmit beams, and sends, to the second UE, a data flow over the DRB on the second frequency band using the at least one transmit beam.

Beam sweeping on millimeter wave frequencies for device-to-device communications

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems (e.g., sidelink systems, such as vehicle-to-everything (V2X) systems), wireless devices may perform dynamic resource reservations to schedule packet transmissions (e.g., data packet transmissions). Different packets may correspond to different priority levels. To support flexible resource reservation for high priority packets, wireless devices may implement techniques for preempting lower priority reservations. For example, a wireless device may identify reservations for transmitting different packets during a same transmission time interval (TTI). The device may determine whether a first or second packet has a higher relative priority and may communicate in the V2X system during the TTI according to the relative priorities. For example, a device that reserved the TTI for the lower priority packet may refrain from transmitting the packet during the TTI, while a device that reserved the TTI for the higher priority packet may transmit the packet.

Handling packets with different priorities in sidelink systems

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. One method for wireless communication at a first device includes receiving a multicast packet from a second device, decoding control header information in the received multicast packet, determining that a decoding procedure associated with a payload of the received multicast packet is unsuccessful and transmitting a negative acknowledgement (NACK) based at least in part on the determining. The method also includes retrieving a list of transmitter identifiers. In some cases, transmitting the NACK is based at least in part on the list of transmitter identifiers. The method further includes determining a transmitter identifier associated with the multicast packet and determining that the transmitter identifier is present in the list of transmitter identifiers.

Radio vehicle-to-anything negative acknowledgement based multicast

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications (e.g., vehicle to everything systems) are described relating to an adaptive design of demodulation reference signals (DMRS) density based on user equipment (UE) velocity. A UE may send assistance information to a transmitting UE to help identify a DMRS pattern based on the relative speed between the two UEs. Also, the transmitter may determine the adaptive DMRS pattern based on its speed without information of the receiver's speed. The transmitter may indicate the adaptive DMRS pattern in control information to the receiver. A base station may receive assistance information, and the base station may determine the adaptive DMRS pattern to be used by the transmitting UE based on the received assistance information and then indicate the adaptive DMRS pattern to the transmitting UE. A UE may determine an adaptive DMRS pattern to use based on feedback from the receiving UE.

Reference signal patterns based on relative speed between a transmitter and receiver

Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a first user equipment (UE) establishes a radio resource control (RRC) connection for a communication session with a second UE, establishes a signaling radio bearer (SRB) for the communication session with the second UE on a first frequency band, sends, to the second UE over the SRB on the first frequency band, a first RRC message to establish a data radio bearer (DRB) for the communication session on a second frequency band, the first RRC message including one or more parameters for establishing the DRB on the second frequency band, and configures the DRB on the second frequency band based on the one or more parameters in the first RRC message and/or a device-to-device discovery procedure performed in the first frequency band.

Establishing radio bearers on millimeter wave frequencies for device-to-device communications

An improved manner of transmitting and receiving messages in sidelink communication is presented in which a wireless device receives sidelink control information (SCI) that indicates a zone ID associated with a sidelink message. The wireless device determines a location of the wireless device and determines whether to send feedback for the sidelink message based, at least in part, on the zone ID associated with the sidelink message and the location of the wireless device. The feedback may include hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback, and the sidelink message may include a groupcast message. The wireless device may further receive an indication of an intended range in the SCI and may determine whether to send the feedback based on a combination of the zone ID and the intended range for the sidelink message.

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify multiple candidate sets of physical sidelink feedback channel (PSFCH) transmissions that include hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback for sidelink communications received from one or more peer UEs. The UE may select, from one or more of the multiple candidate sets that satisfy a PSFCH transmit power constraint, at least one candidate set that has a highest value for a utility parameter among utility parameters associated with each of the one or more candidate sets that satisfy a PSFCH transmit power constraint. The UE may transmit, on a PSFCH, the plurality of PSFCH transmissions included in the at least one candidate set in a HARQ feedback occasion. Numerous other aspects are provided.
