Aspects relate to mechanisms for measuring the interference on the sidelink for use in calculating the channel quality indicator (CQI) in channel state information (CSI) reporting. Channel state information-interference measurement (CSI-IM) resources on which a sidelink device may measure the interference may be located outside of a bandwidth allocated for the transmission of a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) and/or inside of the allocated bandwidth. The sidelink device may measure respective interference values on one or more CSI-IM resources, identify one or more CQI(s) based on the measured interference value(s) and transmit one or more CSI reports including the one or more CQIs to another sidelink device.

Interference measurement for sidelink

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for using physical resource blocks (PRBs) of a sidelink resource pool that, in some cases, might not belong to a sub-channel in sidelink or are assigned to a special sub-channel. When a user equipment (UE) is transmitting a sidelink communication, the sidelink communication often takes place in resource pools that include sub-channels in frequency domain and slots in a time domain. A first subset of PRBs of the resource pool may be assigned to one or more sub-channels in the frequency domain. The disclosed methods, devices, and systems provide for identifying PRBs not assigned to the first subset (e.g., remaining or unused PRBs or PRBs assigned to a special sub-channel). In some aspects of the present disclosure, the UE may use these PRBs for various purposes.

Techniques for using physical resource blocks (PRBS) in a sidelink resource pool

Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a first user equipment (UE) performs a limited beam sweep of one or more transmit beams on a second frequency band in an estimated direction from the first UE to the second UE, wherein the estimated direction is based on one or more parameters received over a previously established signaling radio bearer (SRB) on a first frequency band and/or a device-to-device discovery procedure performed on the first frequency band, receives, over the SRB, a confirmation that a data radio bearer (DRB) has been established on the second frequency band with at least one transmit beam of the one or more transmit beams, and sends, to the second UE, a data flow over the DRB on the second frequency band using the at least one transmit beam.

Beam sweeping on millimeter wave frequencies for device-to-device communications

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems (e.g., sidelink systems, such as vehicle-to-everything (V2X) systems), wireless devices may perform dynamic resource reservations to schedule packet transmissions (e.g., data packet transmissions). Different packets may correspond to different priority levels. To support flexible resource reservation for high priority packets, wireless devices may implement techniques for preempting lower priority reservations. For example, a wireless device may identify reservations for transmitting different packets during a same transmission time interval (TTI). The device may determine whether a first or second packet has a higher relative priority and may communicate in the V2X system during the TTI according to the relative priorities. For example, a device that reserved the TTI for the lower priority packet may refrain from transmitting the packet during the TTI, while a device that reserved the TTI for the higher priority packet may transmit the packet.

Handling packets with different priorities in sidelink systems

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. One method for wireless communication at a first device includes receiving a multicast packet from a second device, decoding control header information in the received multicast packet, determining that a decoding procedure associated with a payload of the received multicast packet is unsuccessful and transmitting a negative acknowledgement (NACK) based at least in part on the determining. The method also includes retrieving a list of transmitter identifiers. In some cases, transmitting the NACK is based at least in part on the list of transmitter identifiers. The method further includes determining a transmitter identifier associated with the multicast packet and determining that the transmitter identifier is present in the list of transmitter identifiers.

Radio vehicle-to-anything negative acknowledgement based multicast

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications (e.g., vehicle to everything systems) are described relating to an adaptive design of demodulation reference signals (DMRS) density based on user equipment (UE) velocity. A UE may send assistance information to a transmitting UE to help identify a DMRS pattern based on the relative speed between the two UEs. Also, the transmitter may determine the adaptive DMRS pattern based on its speed without information of the receiver's speed. The transmitter may indicate the adaptive DMRS pattern in control information to the receiver. A base station may receive assistance information, and the base station may determine the adaptive DMRS pattern to be used by the transmitting UE based on the received assistance information and then indicate the adaptive DMRS pattern to the transmitting UE. A UE may determine an adaptive DMRS pattern to use based on feedback from the receiving UE.

Reference signal patterns based on relative speed between a transmitter and receiver

Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a first user equipment (UE) establishes a radio resource control (RRC) connection for a communication session with a second UE, establishes a signaling radio bearer (SRB) for the communication session with the second UE on a first frequency band, sends, to the second UE over the SRB on the first frequency band, a first RRC message to establish a data radio bearer (DRB) for the communication session on a second frequency band, the first RRC message including one or more parameters for establishing the DRB on the second frequency band, and configures the DRB on the second frequency band based on the one or more parameters in the first RRC message and/or a device-to-device discovery procedure performed in the first frequency band.

Establishing radio bearers on millimeter wave frequencies for device-to-device communications

An improved manner of transmitting and receiving messages in sidelink communication is presented in which a wireless device receives sidelink control information (SCI) that indicates a zone ID associated with a sidelink message. The wireless device determines a location of the wireless device and determines whether to send feedback for the sidelink message based, at least in part, on the zone ID associated with the sidelink message and the location of the wireless device. The feedback may include hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback, and the sidelink message may include a groupcast message. The wireless device may further receive an indication of an intended range in the SCI and may determine whether to send the feedback based on a combination of the zone ID and the intended range for the sidelink message.

Transmission with indication of geographic area

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify multiple candidate sets of physical sidelink feedback channel (PSFCH) transmissions that include hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback for sidelink communications received from one or more peer UEs. The UE may select, from one or more of the multiple candidate sets that satisfy a PSFCH transmit power constraint, at least one candidate set that has a highest value for a utility parameter among utility parameters associated with each of the one or more candidate sets that satisfy a PSFCH transmit power constraint. The UE may transmit, on a PSFCH, the plurality of PSFCH transmissions included in the at least one candidate set in a HARQ feedback occasion. Numerous other aspects are provided.

A method implemented on a UE includes determining an application class of an application, and permitting or barring access by the application to a communication network according to a comparison of the determined application with a rule to provide application class based access control. The application is classified into the determined application class. The application is classified into the determined application class by a home network. Methods for application specific access control

Aspects relate to mechanisms for a wireless communication device to generate a superposition transmission of a sidelink signal to be transmitted to at least one receiving wireless communication device and an uplink signal to be transmitted to a base station. The wireless communication device may transmit the superposition transmission on resources allocated by the base station on a common carrier utilized for both sidelink and uplink transmissions. The superposition transmission includes a base layer corresponding to the uplink signal and an enhanced layer corresponding to the sidelink signal. The wireless communication device may further generate and transmit interference assistance information to the receiving wireless communication device for use by the receiving wireless communication device in canceling the base layer from the superposition transmission.

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may detect an out-of-coverage scenario based at least in part on determining that a synchronization source associated with a wireless network is unavailable or has a signal strength that fails to satisfy a threshold. The UE may transmit, on a sidelink channel, a sidelink synchronization signal in a transmission period that includes a plurality of synchronization signal occasions based at least in part on the out-of-coverage scenario. In some aspects, the UE may transmit the sidelink synchronization signal according to a reduced duty cycle that causes the sidelink synchronization signal to be transmitted during fewer than all of the plurality of synchronization signal occasions. In an aspect, the present disclosure includes a method, apparatus, and computer readable medium for wireless communications for receiving, by a relay user equipment (UE) from a remote UE, a remote UE radio resource control (RRC) message for establishing a relayed communication between the remote UE and a network entity via the relay UE; determining, by the relay UE, remote UE information associated with the remote UE for establishing a remote UE communication context between the relay UE and the network entity based on the remote UE RRC message; and transmitting, by the relay UE to the network entity, the remote UE RRC message and the remote UE information.

Techniques for multiplexing remote UE RRC messages in a wireless communication system

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitter user equipment (UE), a receiver UE, or both of a sidelink communications link may detect a radio link failure (RLF) on the sidelink communications link. For example, the transmitter UE may perform a radio link monitoring procedure to identify the RLF. Additionally or alternatively, the receiver UE may detect if the RLF occurs based on using a timer or counter. Accordingly, the receiver UE may initiate the timer when no sidelink transmission is received and may declare RLF upon the timer expiring. The receiver UE may initiate the timer when a data transmission is not received, when a data transmission is supposed to be received and is not received, not decoding sidelink control information (SCI), not receiving the SCI, etc.

Handling of sidelink radio link failure
