A method for controlling characteristics of light emitted from a surgical light includes remotely configuring a surgical light, using a remote computing system communicatively connected to the surgical light, by selecting which of a plurality of characteristics of light emitted from the surgical light are adjustable by operation of a handle assembly of the surgical light. The method includes adjusting, using the handle assembly, at least one characteristic of the plurality of characteristics of the light emitted from the surgical light according to the selection of which of the plurality of characteristics of light emitted from the surgical light are adjustable by operation of the handle assembly.

A method for monitoring cleaning of a medical room includes: receiving imaging of the medical room, the imaging capturing signatures of cleaning deposits on one or more surfaces of the medical room deposited via a cleaning process; analyzing the imaging to: identify one or more surfaces in the medical room that should be cleaned, and determine which of the one or more surfaces have been cleaned by identifying the signatures of the cleaning deposits; and displaying an indication of at least one of: (1) the surfaces that have been cleaned, and (2) one or more surfaces that have not been cleaned.

A surgical light including a light housing having at least one light source therein and a handle assembly extending from the light housing, with the handle assembly including a knob and a cover. The handle assembly is rotatably connected to the light housing. The cover covers the knob. Engaging the cover in a first mode and rotating the knob alters a first characteristic of light emitted from the at least one light source. Engaging the cover in a second mode and rotating the knob alters a second characteristic of light emitted from the at least one light source.
