A latency measurement system includes a controller having a first input port and a second input port. The controller is programmed to receive a start trigger signal using the first input port. The controller is further programmed to perform a first action in response to receiving the start trigger signal. The controller is further programmed to receive a stop trigger signal using the second input port. The controller is further programmed to perform a second action in response to receiving the stop trigger signal. The controller is further programmed to determine a latency measurement based at least in part on the first action and the second action.

Latency measurement system and method

In an aspect, systems and methods of connected nodes, including electronic control units (ECUs) in a vehicle, integrate remote direct memory access (RDMA) capabilities with time-sensitive networking (TSN) traffic shaper configurations in a manner that guarantees lossless, bounded-latency critical traffic (CT) streams, while also allowing for different classes of traffic to flow through the connected nodes. In another aspect, mechanisms are introduced to enable an automotive software framework (e.g., classic AUTOSAR) to support RDMA communications.

Remote direct memory access for real-time control applications

A bus-based communication includes a primary node, one or more secondary nodes that are each assigned an original node identifier, and a bus electrically connecting the primary node and the one or more secondary nodes with one another based on a bus-based communication protocol. The bus-based communication protocol defines a predefined number of sequentially numbered available node identifiers, and the original node identifier assigned to each secondary node corresponds to one of the sequentially numbered available node identifiers defined by the bus-based communication protocol of the bus. The primary node implements a re-mapping technique that re-numbers the original node identifiers assigned to the secondary nodes.

Node re-mapping technique for a bus-based communication system

A computer is provided for a network communication system of a motor vehicle. The system includes a central gateway and a plurality of electronic control units (ECUs) coupled to the central gateway. The computer includes one or more processors and a computer readable medium (CRM) coupled to the processors. The processor is programmed to receive an input database including a plurality of messages with a plurality of unique periodic rates. The processor is further programmed to assign a plurality of delayed start times for associated messages, with a number of the messages transmitted at each of the delayed starting times being limited to a predetermined maximum threshold. The processor is further programmed to generate an output database including the delayed start times, such that the ECUs are coded based on the output database to transmit the messages at the associated delayed start times to decrease a congestion of the system.

Network communication system and process to optimize network performance

A vehicle control system includes a transmitting electronic control unit for transmitting multiplexed protocol data units. The transmitting electronic control unit is enabled to transmit first and second protocol data units with corresponding first and second selector field values. A receiving electronic control unit is in electronic communication with the transmitting electronic control unit. The receiving electronic control unit is enabled to be programmed to operate in a first mode of operation or in a second mode of operation. The receiving electronic control unit is enabled to receive and process the first protocol data unit based on receipt of the first selector field value when operating in the first mode of operation and is enabled to receive and process the second protocol data unit based on receipt of the second selector field value when operating in the second mode of operation.

Vehicle control system and method with protocol data unit multiplexing and post build configuration

A system for synchronization of multiple clocks in a vehicle network includes a processor that is programmed to synchronize a time follower clock to a primary grand leader clock. The primary grand leader clock is monitored and the time follower clock is synchronized to a standby grand leader clock upon a failure of the primary grand leader clock. The time follower clock is synchronized to the primary grand leader clock if a new ignition cycle has occurred between a failure of the primary grand leader clock and a recovery after failure of the primary grand leader clock. The time follower clock continues to be synchronized to the standby grand leader clock if a new ignition cycle has not occurred between the failure of the primary grand leader clock and the recovery after failure of the primary grand leader clock.

System and method for fault tolerant time synchronization

A method for identifying distracted pedestrians. The method includes determining operating conditions of a vehicle using a plurality of vehicle controllers. Pedestrian parameters for a pedestrian in a vicinity of the vehicle are acquired using a plurality of vehicle sensors. The pedestrian parameters include at least one of face positions, body positions, gait and hand gestures. Information related to an environment surrounding the vehicle is acquired. Pedestrian awareness level is determined based on the acquired pedestrian parameters and based on the information related to the environment surrounding the vehicle. A determination is made whether the pedestrian awareness level is below a predefined threshold. The pedestrian is classified as distracted, in response to determining that the pedestrian awareness level is below the predefined threshold.

Identification of distracted pedestrians

A method for improving pedestrian safety is provided. The method includes determining operating conditions of a vehicle using a plurality of vehicle sensors. A path of the vehicle is predicted based on the determined operating conditions. Pedestrian parameters for a pedestrian in a vicinity of the vehicle are acquired using the plurality of vehicle sensors. The pedestrian parameters include at least one of a position, a speed of the pedestrian, gait, body posture and a level of distractedness. A determination is made whether a notification of the pedestrian is necessary based on the determined vehicle operating conditions and the acquired pedestrian parameters. A mode of notification of the pedestrian is selected from a plurality of modes of notification, in response to determining that the notification of the pedestrian is necessary. The pedestrian is notified using the selected mode of notification.

Multimodal vehicle-to-pedestrian notification system

A method and apparatus for generating frames for communicating over a network are provided. The method includes: receiving input signals and signal information comprising at least one from among new signal information, existing data dictionary information, and topology information, determining frame packing rules based on the received signal information, and generating frames of output data based on the determined frame packing rules. The method may be used to package vehicle controller area network messages for transmission over other networks.
