The present invention includes an imageable element, which includes a sheet substrate, an imaging layer and a silicone layer, which comprises a crosslinked silicone polymer. The crosslinked silicone polymer is the curing product of a vinyl functional polysiloxane copolymer and a hydrosiloxane compound. The curing is catalyzed by a platinum carbonyl complex. Upon imagewise exposure and development, an imaged element is obtained, which is mounted on a dry printing press containing lithographic ink and used to produce printed stock.

A radiation sensitive plate structure and method for digitally producing a lithographic printing plate. The radiation sensitive plate structure comprises a substrate, a photosensitive layer which changes solubility in a developer liquid upon exposure to actinic radiation, and a photographic layer. The photographic layer comprises a silver halide emulsion dispersed in gelatin, a sensitizing dye, and an adhesion promoting component comprising a vinyl phenol copolymer and a polymeric keying agent. The method for digitally producing a lithographic printing plate comprises the following steps. The radiation sensitive plate structure is provided and the photographic layer is image-wise exposed to visible or laser radiation to form an exposed photographic layer. The exposed photographic layer is developed to form an opaque image mask. Areas of the photosensitive layer not covered by the opaque image mask are uniformly exposed to actinic radiation to effect a solubility change in the developer liquid to form complimentary soluble portions and insoluble portions in the photosensitive layer. The photosensitive layer is developed by treatment with the developer liquid to remove the soluble portions from the photosensitive layer, forming the lithographic printing plate.

A camera speed lithographic plate precursor composition is used for the preparation of waterless, imaged printing plates. The plates comprise a solid substrate with a first layer of a photopolymerizable, oleophilic coating; a second layer of silicone rubber; a third protective film layer; and a top or fourth layer comprising a silver halide emulsion containing polymeric binders or keying agents.

A lithographic printing plate precursor and process for its utilization have been discovered through which negative and positive original images can be printably reproduced on the plate precursor in substantially fewer development steps. The precursor plate is exposed sequentially to either the negative or positive original with the resultant image subsequently developable in a single process or step. The process is achieved by using a precursor plate having two coatings of significantly different photographic sensitivity to light, i.e., speed as characterized by 'camera speed' or 'contact speed' and imagewise exposing the originals in sequence to alternative speeds. The contact speed coating may be negative-working or positive working while the camera speed coating is negative-working. The camera speed coating is developed followed by exposure of the contact speed coating. Images produced at camera speed are removed and non-image bearing portions of the contact speed coating are removed. The remaining image areas corresponding to the negative and positive originals are treated to provide positive printable images.
