Presented herein are techniques to facilitate that enable notifications to be sent to multiple consumers for Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) architectures. In one example, a method is provided that may include obtaining, at a first network entity, a notification subscription message from a second network entity, the notification subscription message comprising a plurality of notification identifiers associated with the second network entity for notifications that are to be communicated to the second network entity, wherein the plurality of notification identifiers are indicated, at least in part, in a header of the notification subscription message; and communicating one or more notifications to the second network entity, wherein the one or more notifications are load-shared among the plurality of notification identifiers associated with the second network entity.

Techniques to send load-share notifications to multiple receivers

A network node includes control plane functionality for managing a session of a user equipment (UE) which is anchored at a User Plane Function (UPF) anchor for communicating traffic between the UE and a data network. The node operates to obtain, from an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF), a session context request responsive to a handover indication indicating a handover of the session from a Fifth Generation System (5GS) to an Evolved Packet System (EPS). The node identifies whether an uplink classifier (UL-CL) UPF is in use for local offloading to a local UPF anchor for delivery to a local area data network. Based on the identifying, the node obtains uplink tunnel information of the UL-CL UPF instead of the UPF anchor for establishing at least one bearer for the session and sends to the AMF a session context response including the uplink tunnel information of the UL-CL UPF.

Maintaining local offloading of traffic in a handover from a fifth generation system (5GS) to an evolved packet system (EPS)

A method is provided for handling a voice call in a heterogeneous network environment by a wireless device. The method includes sending a registration request to a network node in a Next Generation (5G) network. The wireless device has an existing voice call on a different network in the heterogeneous network environment. The method further includes receiving a registration acceptance from the network node in the 5G network. The registration acceptance indicates that IMS voice services are supported, but existing voice calls are not supported. The method further includes determining to stop an attempt to move the existing voice call to the 5G network.

Managing voice calls in heterogenous network environments

In one embodiment, a method includes: obtaining a RAN preference indicator from an operator indicating whether to use the first RAN or a second RAN for a specified data flow type for a particular user device, wherein the RAN preference indicator is based on subscriber information associated with a user of the particular user device; determining whether to transmit the data flow via the first RAN or the second RAN based on the RAN preference indicator; causing the data flow to be transmitted via the first RAN according to a determination that the RAN preference indicator indicates that the specified data flow type should be transmitted via the first RAN; and causing the data flow to be transmitted via the second RAN according to a determination that the RAN preference indicator indicates that the specified data flow type should be transmitted via the second RAN.

Triggering selective fallback based on user subscription information

Controlling establishment of a connection between an originating subscriber connected via an originating radio network to a communication network and a terminating subscriber connected via a terminating radio network to the communication network. The connection is established between originating payload node and terminating payload node employing a common coding scheme. Coding scheme negotiation comprises establishing, in originating control node (OCN), a list of supported coding schemes of originating subscriber, originating radio network and originating payload node. Determining, by the OCN, a radio channel property of the originating subscriber, oRCP, relaying the list and the radio channel property between the control nodes controlling the connection towards a terminating control node (TCN). Removing, by the control nodes, non-supported coding schemes from the list. Determining, by the TCN, common coding scheme(s) for the connection by selecting a remaining coding scheme considering the oRCP and a radio channel property of the terminating subscriber, tRCP.

Method to take mobile station preference for channel type into consideration when performing codec negotiation

A method for a call control node (MSC-S) for setting up transmission of voice data from a calling party (BSC) towards a called party (BSC) via at least one media gateway node (MGW-, MGW-) is provided, said call control node (MSC-S) acting as a terminating call control node being adapted for communicating with the at least one media gateway node (MGW-) and with an originating call control node (MSC-S), the method comprising receiving first information from the originating call control node (MSC-S) indicative of at least one media gateway node (MGW-, MGW-) usable for transmitting the voice data, receiving second information from the originating call control node (MSC-S) indicative of a codec (PCM) to be used from the calling party (BSC) towards the at least one media gateway node (MGW-, MGW-) usable for transmitting the voice data, determining whether the voice data is transmittable by the at least one media gateway node (MGW-, MGW-) towards the called party (BSC) encoded by said codec (PCM)determining whether a common media gateway node (MGW-) is usable by both the originating call control node (MSC-S) and the terminating call control node (MSC-S), sending first backward information to the originating call control node (MSC-S) indicative of the said codec (PCM), and sending second backward information to the originating call control node (MSC-S) indicative of the common media gateway node (MGW-).

Using a common media gateway node and a coordinated codec by an originating and a terminating call control node

Call setup methods in a packet-based communication network are provided comprising receiving a call setup request from a call request entity; in response to receiving the call setup request, obtaining a first network address of a first network entity and forwarding the first network address to the call request entity; obtaining a second network address of the call request entity and forwarding the second network address to the first network entity; handling a result code indicating whether a call communication between the call request entity and the first network entity can be established; and in case no communication can be established, obtaining a further network address of a further network entity, forwarding the further network address to the call request entity, and forwarding the second network address to the further network entity.

Call switching in packet-based communication networks

A mobile subscriber registered with a private enterprise network and a public mobile network is provided with subscriber profile data triggering a serving switch associated with the public mobile network to forward an outgoing call connection request by that mobile subscriber over to the private enterprise network. Subscriber features and services available within the private enterprise network can then be utilized by the mobile subscriber currently roaming within the public mobile network while making outgoing call connections. Such subscriber profile data may be downloaded into the serving switch from a centralized database during its initial registration process.

System for providing subscriber features within a telecommunications network

A telecommunications system and method is disclosed for providing call transfer services within H.323 networks, in which the transferring end-point that invokes call transfer relays the media packets received from the transferred end-point to the transferred-to end-point, and likewise relays media packets received from the transferred-to end-point to the transferred end-point. However, the transferring end-point is taken out of the call after transferring the call so that it can make/receive new calls.

System and method for call transfer in packet switched local area networks

A telecommunications system and method is disclosed for de-registering all Mobile Stations (MSs) at one time from a Gatekeeper of an H.323 system. In preferred embodiments, after an H.323 system shut down or upon receipt of a RESET message from a Home Location Register (HLR), the Mobile Switching Center (MSC) sends a single Unregistration Request (URQ) message to the Gatekeeper requesting de-registration of all of the MSs served by the MSC. The H.225 protocol for the URQ message is modified to indicate that all MSs associated with the MSC are to be de-registered. Alternatively, the modified URQ message can indicate that a certain group of MSs served by the MSC are to be de-registered.

System and method for de-registration of multiple H.323 end points from a H.323 gatekeeper

A telecommunications system and method is disclosed for providing service transparency for mobile terminating calls to a roaming H.,mobile terminal. An H.,mobile terminal can be assigned both an office number and a regular Mobile Station Integrated Services Digital Network (MSISDN) number. The MSISDN of the H.,mobile terminal will not be made available to the H.,mobile subscriber or to anyone else. The MSISDN will only be used internally within the Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) and H.,system to route the call properly. Thus, whenever a call attempt is made to the H.,mobile terminal, the call shall always be routed to the H.,Gatekeeper. If the H.,mobile terminal has roamed outside the H.,network, the H.,Gatekeeper can apply mobile terminating services to the incoming call and route the call to the serving PLMN of the H.,mobile terminal using the H.,mobile terminal's MSISDN.

System and method for providing service transparency for mobile terminating calls within an H.323 system

A system and method in a telecommunications system for enabling an originating mobile unit to deliver SMS messages to a select plurality of destination mobile units. A mobile station ISDN number (MSISDN) is assigned to a usergroup wherein this usergroup contains at least one and preferably a plurality of member MSISDNs. An originating mobile unit may then transmit an SMS message to a plurality of destination units by transmitting an SMS message addressed to a predefined usergroup MSISDN thereby eliminating the necessity of the originating mobile unit addressing and transmitting the SMS message to each member of the defined usergroup. Allowances are made to restrict such transmission to specified originating units.
