Provided is a nanocrystal comprising a core comprised in a shell, wherein the core comprises a first material of a perovskite structure comprising a first organic cation not exceeding a molar weight of about 45 g/mol, a first divalent metal and a first counter anion, and, wherein the shell comprises a second material of a perovskite structure comprising a second organic cation having a molar weight between about 74 g/mol and about 187 g/mol, optionally the first organic cation, a second divalent metal and a second counter anion. Provided is further a matrix having the nanocrystal as defined above encapsulated therein. Provided is further a process for the synthesis of a nanocrystal comprising a core comprised in a shell, the process comprising a) preparing a precursor solution containing at least one divalent metal, a first organic cation not exceeding a molar weight of about 45 g/mol, a second organic cation having a molar weight between about 74 g/mol and about 187 g/mol, and at least one counter anion in a polar aprotic solvent; and b) subjecting the precursor solution to a non-polar solvent to form the nanocrystal.

The present invention refers to an electrode comprised of a first layer which comprises a mesoporous nanostructured hydrophobic material; and a second layer which comprises a mesoporous nanostructured hydrophilic material arranged on the first layer. The present invention is directed to a hybrid device comprising: an energy converting unit comprising a first electrode, a second electrode and an energy converting medium arranged between the first electrode and the second electrode, wherein the energy conversion takes place between the first electrode and the second electrode; an energy charge storing unit comprising a first electrode, a second electrode and an electrolyte medium; wherein the energy charge is stored between the first and the second electrode; the second electrode of the energy converting unit and the second electrode of the energy charge storing unit being a shared electrode electrically connecting the energy converting unit and the energy charge storing unit; and wherein the shared electrode comprises a metal and a nanostructured material. The present invention is also directed to a method of manufacturing such a hybrid device.

Integrated electrode architectures for energy generation and storage

The present invention refers to a nanostructured material comprising nanoparticles bound to its surface. The nanostructured material comprises nanoparticles which are bound to the surface, wherein the nanoparticles have a maximal dimension of about 20 nm. Furthermore, the nanostructured material comprises pores having a maximal dimension of between about 2 nm to about 5 &#x3bc;m. The nanoparticles bound on the surface of the nanostructured material are noble metal nanoparticles or metal oxide nanoparticles or mixtures thereof. The present invention also refers to a method of their manufacture and the use of these materials as electrode material.

Nanoparticle decorated nanostructured material as electrode material and method for obtaining the same

A protection layer is coated or otherwise formed over the interconnect structure. The interconnect structure includes a metal line (such as top and bottom metal layers connected by a metal via) and a low-K material. The protection layer includes a vertically aligned dielectric or other material dispersed with carbon nanotubes. The protection layer could include one or multiple layers of carbon nanotubes, and the carbon nanotubes could have any suitable dispersion, alignment, and pattern in each layer of the protection layer. Among other things, the carbon nanotubes help to reduce or prevent damage to the interconnect structure, such as by reducing or preventing the collapse of the low-K material or delamination between the metal line and the low-K material.

Improved structures for and methods for assembling heatspreader attachments in integrated circuit packages permit attachment of a relatively low cost heatspreader having a high coefficient of thermal expansion directly to the back of a die while maximizing thermal performance, mechanical integrity and reliability of the assembly. The improvements are realized through the use of specific adhesive materials to attach the heatspreader to the die, heatspreader geometries, adhesive geometries, assembly techniques and underfill geometries.
