A two part adhesive formulation is provided that has an adhesive part including methylmethacrylate monomer, an antioxidant, a cure inhibitor, and a polyfunctional monomer amount of dimethacrylate monomer, trimethacrylate monomer, or a combination thereof. An activator part includes methylmethacrylate monomer, and a cure accelerator. A toughening agent and an impact modifier in at least one of the adhesive part or the activator part. The adhesive formulation is well suited for forming a wind turbine blade from two or more substrates.

Methacrylate structural adhesive formulation and process for the use thereof

A process of applying an adhesive to an elastomer includes the application to the elastomer of a two part adhesive formulation. The adhesive having a Part A including at least a polyol, an adhesion promoter, a chain extender, a catalyst, a water scavenger; and a Part B comprising: polyurethane prepolymer, adhesion promoter and a plasticizer. The two part adhesive formulation is cured to form the adhesive. In contrast to the prior art, no priming or surface activation is required to obtain a high strength bond to the elastomer. The resulting article of an elastomer with the resultant adhesive is sufficiently strong to result in surface peel off of the elastomer. A kit is provided for the repair of an elastomer without resort to priming the elastomer.

Primer-less two component polyurethane adhesive

A two-part adhesive formulation is provided that has an adhesive part A and an activator part B. The part A includes a monomer amount of a methacrylate ester monomer, a crosslinker amount of a polyfunctional monomer, an anti-oxidant, a free-radical polymerization inhibitor, and an adhesion promoter system to improve cured adhesive strength to a substrate, an impact modifier and a toughening agent and a free-radical polymerization initiator. The part B includes an impact modifier, butyl rubber, methacrylate ester monomer, and a free-radical polymerization accelerator yet varies in the weight ratio used relative to part A. Each of the part A and the part B have separate storage stability of at least 300 days at 23&#xb0; C. A process of applying an adhesive to a substrate is provided that includes combining together parts A and B to form an adhesive mixture and applying the mixture to the substrate and allowed to cure.

Galvanized metal bonding adhesive formulation and process for the use thereof

An acrylic-polyurethane hybrid sealant composition is provided with desirable physical and mechanical properties such as superior adhesion, tensile strength, rheology and bond strength. In particular, the sealant composition of the invention is formulated with isocyanate modified acrylic polymer The composition includes an acrylic pre-polymer, an isocyante functional monomer, a triacrylate as a cross-linker, and a catalyst. A process for preparing the composition is also provided. The hybrid sealant composition is well suited for sealing and bonding requirements in fabrication of articles such as window glazing, back bedding, construction, aerospace and appliances industries. A hybrid sealant composition is provided that develops adequate adhesion and bond strength equivalent to commercially available sealants when used in sealing and bonding applications and is readily formulated to be self-leveling. Articles so fabricated using the hybrid sealant composition are also provided.

Hybrid sealant composition

An adhesive two-part formulation is provided that includes an amount of free-radical curable monomers, each of said monomers containing at least one acrylate moiety. Also preset in the formulation is an amount of a chlorosulfonated polymer; a Lewis acid; a polyfunctional monomer amount of dimethacrylate monomer, trimethacrylate monomer, an elastomer, a thermoplastic additive, or a combination thereof. A borane-amine complex is provided as an activator. A process of applying the formulation to a substrate includes mixing together the formulation components such that each part has a storage stability at 50&#xb0; C. for 30 days where the viscosity at 30 days is within 40% of an initial viscosity. The mixture is applied to the substrate and then allowed to cure to achieve an initial strength of at least 345 kiloPascals (kPa) within 30 minutes and 40 minutes for adhesive:activator weight ratio of 1:1 and 10:1, respectively.

Low surface energy bonding adhesive formulation and process for the use thereof

A super hydrophobic coating composition that is a highly durable super hydrophobic transparent coating for glass, metal, and plastic, and automobile painted surfaces that is manually dispensable and may be easily applied to many substrates is provided. Moreover, the inventive super hydrophobic coating is user friendly as coating takes place at room temperature, and can be applied by a normal hand spray method. Embodiments of the coating dry within 30 minutes, and generate a super hydrophobic effect for ready use. The coating is useful to repel water droplets, dew drops, and dust particles in various applications such as solar panels, wind turbines surfaces, house hold components, metal coated furniture, marine equipment parts, marine sports equipment like speed boat screens, automobile wind shields, automobile plastic components, auto bodies and aerospace applications.

Super hydrophobic coating

A super hydrophobic and antistatic brake dust repellent composition using solvents, adhesion promoter, and hydrophobic inorganic nano particles as a main ingredient is provided. Embodiments of the inventive formulation provide a composition/coating, and a process for protecting various surfaces from the appearance of soil, brake dust, grime, muddy water marks, and corrosion. The applied formulation forms an essentially transparent, detachable, and anti-graffiti protective coating on a receptive surface. Embodiments of the coating film are clearly transparent, and retain the aesthetic appeal of the underneath painted film. The composition/coating acts as a self-cleaning coating so it reduces a adsorption of dirt, other contaminants, muddy water, etc. The coating can be applied at room temperature, and within 120 minutes super hydrophobicity can be achieved. The composition may be applied by spray on any type of surface of a wheel including plastic and metal alloy wheels, painted parts, ceramic, and mild steel substrate.
