A method and system of secure zone pairing. Using the method, a low-power broadcast message is generated by a pairing device and transmitted within a broadcast zone, where the low-power broadcast message includes pairing information. A host device that is within the broadcast zone receives the low-power broadcast message and transmits a first indication that the host device is within the broadcast zone. A guest device that is within the broadcast zone receives the low-power broadcast message and transmits a second indication that the guest device is within the broadcast zone. The method pairs the host device and the guest device based on the pairing information, the first indication, and the second indication.

Device pairing using a secure zone

A method for subscriber registration and affiliation in a peer to peer wide area network is provided. The peer to peer wide area network includes at least one Subscriber and a plurality of Peers. The method includes: communicating a registration and affiliation message including a Subscriber Registration Affiliation Index from a Subscriber to a Peer of the plurality of Peers; routing a registration and affiliation update message including a Peer Registration Affiliation Index equal to the received Subscriber Registration Affiliation Index from the Peer to other Peers of the plurality of Peers; comparing the received Peer Registration Affiliation Index with one or more other received Peer Registration Affiliation Indexes by each of the plurality of Peers; and selecting by each of the plurality of Peers a Peer Registration Affiliation for the Subscriber corresponding to a highest value Peer Registration Affiliation Index.

Method for peer to peer subscriber registration and affiliation

A system and method for providing low overhead floor control in a distributed control two-way radio communications network () including one or more subscriber stations () and one or more peer stations () interconnected via an Internet connection () using no central control. A subscriber station () utilizes a floor request during a timed floor request window (FRW) for requesting floor control to a given peer station (). The system and method provide for consistent floor control decisions throughout the communications network () which includes a policy to block additional floor requests from local subscriber stations once an initial floor request has been received. This enables each peer to receive an identical set of floor requests as every other peer within the FRW such that every peer will grant the floor to the same subscriber.
