A first network device may establish connectivity with a second network device. The first network device may determine information that identifies a cluster identifier based on establishing connectivity with the second network device. The first network device may compare a first software version of the first network device and a second software version of the second network device. The first network device may selectively obtain and install a system image of the second network device based on comparing the first software version and the second software version. The first network device may receive, from the second network device, configuration information and user session information based on selectively obtaining the system image. The first network device and the second network device may form a high-availability cluster.

The device includes a port allowing the device to communicate with a network and a processor to generate a security credential, provide the security credential to a call manager during initialization, and provide the security credential to a secondary device during fallback operations. Secure fallback network device

A system is provided for forwarding packets with hierarchically structured variable-length identifiers (HSVLIs) over Ethernet. The system receives an Ethernet-encapsulated registration message from a content server, which includes a packet containing an HSVLI. A destination MAC of the registration message is an Ethernet group MAC address. The system then creates an entry in a forwarding information base corresponding to the HSVLI indicating a MAC address of the content server and a port on which the registration message is received. The system receives an interest packet from a client which includes the HSVLI. The packet has the Ethernet group MAC address as its destination MAC address and the client's MAC address as its source MAC address. The system forwards the interest packet to the content server, which has the content server's MAC address as its destination MAC address and a local switch's MAC address as its source MAC address.

Intercepting a secure communication session includes distributing a key from a key distribution point to establish a secure communication session between a first endpoint and a second endpoint. A secure channel is established between the key distribution point and an intercepting point. The intercepting endpoint may be determined to be authorized to intercept the secure communication session. The key is provided to the intercepting endpoint only if the intercepting endpoint is authorized to intercept the secure communication session, where the key provides the intercepting endpoint with access to intercept the secure communication session.
