Polyorganophosphazenes having at least some N-(acryloxyhydrocarbyl)ureidohydrocarbyloxy groups: ##STR1## bonded to an oxygen substituted on at least some of the phosphorus atoms of the phosphazene chain. These compounds can be cross-linked by exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

High molecular weight non cross-linked polyfluoroalkoxyphosphazenes containing some unsaturated groups can be cured (i.e. cross-linked) by contact with a catalyst consisting essentially of platinum, a platinum halide or a haloplatinic acid or their hydrates (e.g. chloroplatinic acid hydrate).

Polyetheroxy-substituted polyphosphazenes having reduced mono and polyetheroxy alkanol, alkali metal and halide contaminants that are suitable for use in making solid electrolytes are made by dissolving the impure polyphosphazene in an inert solvent (e.g. tetrahydrofuran) and mixing this solution with a cycloalkane (e.g. cyclohexane) to precipitate the polyetheroxy-substituted polyphosphazene with reduced etheroxy alkanol content. This can be dissolved in water and contacted with an anion exchange material to remove residual halide anions. The purified polyetheroxy-substituted polyphosphazene is then recovered by distilling off the water.

Polyetheroxy-substituted polyphosphazenes useful in making solid electrolytes are purified by dissolving the impure polyphosphazene in water at a low temperature (e.g. below 40.degree. C.) and heating the water solution to a temperature high enough to cause the purified polyphosphazene to precipitate (e.g. above 50.degree. C.).
