A liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal display panel for displaying picture images, and a color correction unit. Upon receipt of raw RGB picture data corresponding to raw RGB gamma curves, the color correction unit generates corrected RGB picture data based on values over a predetermined imaginative gamma curve established in accordance with the characteristic of the liquid crystal display panel. The color correction unit stores values over corrected RGB gamma curves corresponding to the corrected picture data, and gamma-corrects the raw RGB picture data based on values over the stored corrected RGB gamma curves, thereby displaying the picture images.

Color correction liquid crystal display and method of driving same

An apparatus of processing a signal is provided, which includes: a frame memory storing data for two frames; and a signal processing unit writing data for two rows into the frame memory or reading data for two rows from the frame memory during input of data for one row.

Apparatus and method of processing signals

A display device with reduced power consumption has pixels coupled with data lines and arranged in a matrix, a signal controller processing input image signals and outputting output image signals, and a data driver applying data voltages, corresponding to output image signals, to the data lines. When all the input image signals have either a first or second value, the output image signals have the first value. The signal controller generates a polarity signal for determining data voltage polarity, and when all the input image signals have either a first or second value, data voltages corresponding to the input image signals have a polarity equivalent to a polarity of previously applied data voltages. The signal controller generates a control signal for controlling the data driver's clock synchronization circuit, and the control signal halts the clock synchronization circuit when an operating frequency is lower than a predetermined value.

A flat panel display includes a panel assembly provided with a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines and switching elements connected to the gate lines and the data lines; a signal controller synthesizing digital image data and control signals from an external device and generating synthesized signals and gate control signals; a column driver applying analogue data voltages corresponding to the digital image data to the data lines responsive to the synthesized signals; and a gate driver applying the gate control signals to the gate lines.

A display device includes: a display panel including pixels; a signal controller that stores FRC patterns including data elements having first or second value, selects one of the FRC data patterns based on input image data having a first bit number, and converts the input image data into output image data having a second bit number based on the selected FRC data pattern; and a data driver applying to the pixels data voltages corresponding to the output image data supplied from the signal controller. The data voltages have first or second polarity, and the number of the pixels supplied with data voltages that correspond to the output image data converted based on the first value and have the first polarity is equal to the number of the pixels supplied with data voltages that correspond to the output image data converted based on the first value and have the second polarity.

Disclosed are an LCD capable of realizing a pre-charging method even in the random data-enable mode, and an apparatus and method for driving the same. In the LCD driving apparatus, a timing controller outputs a vertical sync start signal based on a data-enable signal having an irregular output interval to control the output of the image data. A gate driver sequentially applies both first and second gate-on voltages to a same gate line based on the vertical sync start signal. The first gate-on voltage is to drive a previous line being most adjacent to and having the same polarity as the current line, and the second gate-on voltage is to drive the current line. An LCD panel is first charged with the first gate-on voltage supplied from the gate driver, and then charged with the second gate-on voltage, so that it can display analog image data received from the data driver during the second charging.

LCD, and driving device and method thereof

There is provided an impulse driven LCD which comprises: an LCD drive controller for outputting normal data, adjust data for impulse generation, and a first control signal for controlling the output of the normal or adjust data, and for outputting a second control signal for controlling display of an image signal according to the normal or adjust data; the LCD drive controller includes a scan driver for sequentially outputting first and second scan signals for a 1 H period according to application of the second control signal; and an LCD panel for charging the normal data signal to a storage capacitor according to application of the first scan signal, and for charging the adjust data signal to the storage capacitor according to application of the second scan signal.

Impulse driving method and apparatus for LCD

The present invention relates to a line inversion type liquid crystal display and a driving method thereof. A plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix, a plurality of data lines extending in a row direction and a plurality of gate lines extending in a column direction are disposed in a liquid crystal panel of the liquid crystal display. The pixel has a liquid crystal capacitor for performing display operation and a switching element turned on in response to a gate-on voltage to apply a data signal to the liquid crystal capacitor. A gate driver sequentially provides gate-on pulses to the gate lines based on gate control signals from a timing controller, and a data driver sequentially applies the data signals with polarity inversion, corresponding to color signals from the timing controller based on the data control signal from the timing controller. The polarity of the data signals is inverted by the unit of at least two pixel rows. Since the width of the gate-on pulse applied to the first pixel row with polarity inversion is larger than that of other gate-on pulses, a charging ratio of the first pixel row with polarity inversion is larger than that of the other rows.
