A liquid crystal display (LCD) device and a driving method where the LCD device includes a data controller for interleaving one of black gray scale data and intermediate gray scale data into input digital video data to input digital video data in a specific period preceding a second one of two successive frame periods in which data voltages having the same polarity are successively supplied to liquid crystal cells. A timing signal controller generates a data timing signal and a gate timing signal, based on an input timing signal, and accelerates a frequency of the data timing signal and a frequency of the gate timing signal in the specific period. A data driving circuit is included for converting the interleaved digital video data into an analog voltage in response to the data timing signal, and supplying the analog voltage to data lines in the specific period.

Liquid crystal display device and driving method thereof

A liquid crystal display (LCD) device includes a liquid crystal display panel having a matrix of liquid crystal cells defined by crossings of the data lines and the gate lines. The LCD device includes a data driving circuit for inverting a polarity of a data voltage in response to a polarity control signal, and supplying the polarity-inverted data voltage to an associated one of the data lines in response to a source output enable signal; a gate driving circuit for sequentially supplying a scan voltage to each of the gate lines in response to a gate output enable signal; and a controller for modulating the polarity control signal such that data voltages having the same polarity are respectively supplied to liquid crystal cells along one gate line in consecutive frame periods and generating the source output enable signal and the gate output enable signal.

Display device and method for driving the same

A liquid crystal display (LCD) device and a driving method can produce reduced direct current image sticking and flicker. An LCD panel for the LCD device has liquid crystal cells having a common same color in each horizontal line and has columns of liquid crystal cells having a repeating sequence of color, a timing controller for generating a polarity control signal such that the polarity control signal is varied at intervals of one frame period, a data driving circuit supplying data voltages to the data lines in response to the polarity control signal, and a gate driving circuit supplying scan pulses to the gate lines. The liquid crystal cells include first liquid crystal cell groups supplied with data voltages having polarities inverted from polarities the previous frame period, and second liquid crystal cell groups supplied with data voltages having polarities identical to the polarities supplied in the previous frame period.

A disclosed display includes a display panel including a first group of data lines and second group of data lines, a plurality of gate lines crossing the first and a second groups of data lines, and a plurality of picture cells arranged in a matrix. The display also includes a first source PCB coupled to first data integrated circuits (ICs) to supply first data voltages to the first group of data lines and a second source PCB coupled to second data ICs to supply second data voltages to the second group of data lines. The display further includes a timing controller having a single output port with a plurality of output pins which are configured to output video data to both the first and second data ICs, and to output a timing control signal to control both the first and second data ICs. In addition, the display includes a first connection cable coupling the single output port of the timing controller to at least one of the first and second source PCBs to transmit the video data and the timing control signal from the timing controller to the at least one of the first and second source PCBs. The first data ICs and second data ICs are configured to generate the first and second data voltages, respectively, based on the video data and the timing control signal.
