The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing a three-dimensional (3D) article, part or composite material, from a powdered material (M) comprising a polyamide (PA) presenting 4,4'-diaminodicyclohexylmethane moieties, as well as to such powdered material (M). The present invention also relates to the 3D article, part or composite material obtainable from such process, as well as the use of the article, part or composite materials in oil and gas applications, automotive applications, electric and electronic applications, aerospace, medical and consumer goods.

Polyamides and corresponding polymer compositions and articles

Described herein are polyamides (PA) incorporating a cycloaliphatic monomer containing a cyclohexyl group. It was surprisingly discovered that by incorporating the cycloaliphatic monomer containing a cyclohexyl group, the resulting polyamides (PA) had significantly reduced water absorption and significantly increased Tg, while maintaining high Tm, Tc and good mechanical properties, relative to analogous polyamides free of the cycloaliphatic monomer and PA6,T based polyamides copolymerized with either or both of isophthalic acid and adipic acid.

Polyamides and corresponding polymer compositions, articles and methods for making and using

Described herein are polyamides (PA) derived from the polycondensation of monomers in a reaction mixture comprising: (1) a diamine component (A) comprising 20 mol % to 95 mol % of a Cto Caliphatic diamine, and 5 mol % to 80 mol % of a bis(aminoalkyl)cyclohexane, where mol % is relative to the total number of moles of all diamine monomers in the diamine component; and a dicarboxylic acid component (B) comprising: 30 mol % to 99 mol % of terephthalic acid and 1 mol % to 70 mol % of a cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid, wherein mol % is relative to the total number of moles of all dicarboxylic acid monomers in the dicarboxylic acid component. It was surprisingly discovered that, with the particular combination of the bis(aminoalkyl)cyclohexane and the cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid, the polyamides (PA) had, on the whole, improved thermal performance relative to analogous polyamides, in which the cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid is replaced with an aromatic dicarboxylic acid.

Described herein are poly(arylene sulfide) ('PAS') polymers (PASP) including recurring units formed from selected dihalofluorene monomers. Surprisingly, at relative low dihalofluorene monomer concentrations, the PAS polymers (PASP) have significantly increased glass transition temperatures (“T”) and impact performance, relative to analogous PAS homopolymers and PAS polymers (PASP) including recurring units formed from 4,4'-dibromobiphenyl (“DBBP”). Simultaneously, the PAS polymers (PASP) also retain high elastic modulus. Furthermore, the PAS polymers (PASP) are free of recurring units formed from polyhalogenated biphenyls (e.g. DBBP and polychlorinated biphenyls) and, therefore, are not currently subject to restrictive governmental regulation. Due at least in part to the excellent thermal (T, Tand T) and impact properties of the PAS polymers (PASP), the PAS polymers (PASP) and PAS polymer compositions can be desirably incorporated into wide variety of articles including, but not limited to, automotive articles, electrical and electronic articles, articles for aerospace and oil and gas articles.

Poly(arylene sulfide) polymers and corresponding polymer compositions and articles

Described herein are poly(arylene sulfide) ('PAS') polymers (PASP) including recurring units formed from a dihalocarbazole containing monomer. It was surprisingly found that such monomers could be incorporated into PAS polymers at desirable concentrations to provide improved amine content. Additionally, it was surprisingly found that, relative to PAS homopolymers and PAS polymers incorporating recurring units with primary amines, the PAS polymers (PASP) described herein and increased glass transition temperatures (“T”). The PAS polymers (PASP), and PAS polymer compositions, can be desirably incorporated into wide variety of articles including, but not limited to, automotive articles and oil and gas articles.

The invention relates to a process for preparing particles of polyphenylene sulfide polymer (PPS), based on the use of a polyester polymer (PE) comprising units from a dicarboxylic acid component and a diol component, wherein at least 2 mol. % of the diol component is a poly(alkylene glycol). The process comprises the melt-blending of the PPS with the PE, the cooling the blend and the recovery of the particles by dissolution of the PE into water. The present invention relates to PPS particles obtained therefrom and to the use of these particles in SLS 3D printing, coatings and toughening of thermoset resins.

Process for preparing particles of polyphenylene sulfide polymer

Described herein are polyamide polymers having improved glass transition temperatures ('Tg') and relatively small values of Tm−Tg, where Tm is the melting temperature of the polyamide polymer. The polyamide polymers are semi-aromatic, semi-crystalline polyamide polymers that include recurring units formed the polycondensation of (1) a linear aliphatic diamine and a cycloaliphatic diamine with (2) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid. Due at least in part to the improved Tg, the polyamide polymers can be desirably incorporated into application settings including, but not limited to, mobile electronic devices, automotive, aerospace, building and construction, oil and gas, industrial, electrical and electronics, consumer goods, medical and healthcare. Furthermore, the polyamide polymers have relatively small values of Tm−Tg and, therefore, articles including the polyamide polymers can be more efficiently produced due to relatively small cycle times.

Photocurable polymers, photocurable polymer compositions and lithographic processes including the same

Described herein are end-capped poly(aryl ether sulfone) ('PAES') polymers and corresponding synthesis methods. The end-capped PAES polymers are end-capped by functionalizing a PAES polymer with a halophthalic diialkyl ester end-capping agent. It was surprisingly discovered that the resulting dialkyl phthalate end-capped PAES polymers could be synthesized with significantly improved end-capping conversion rates, relative to end-capped PAES polymers directly functionalized with traditional phthalic anhydride end-capping agents. It was also surprisingly found that by heating the isopropyl phthalate end-capped PAES polymers, the polymers could be converted to the corresponding phthalic anhydride end-capped PAES polymers, yielding a more efficient synthetic route to phthalic anhydride end-capped PAES polymers.
