A milling tool includes a tool body having a peripheral surface and a central rotation axis. A number of cutting teeth protrude from the peripheral surface, a front end set of the cutting teeth arranged along a front end portion of an imaginary helix concentric with the central rotation axis, and a back end set along a back end portion of the helix. The cutting teeth engage the workpiece successively, starting with the foremost cutting tooth of the front end set. The back end set includes at least three along the helix adjacent cutting teeth arranged at a constant first radial distance from the central rotation axis. The front end set has at least two adjacent cutting teeth arranged at an along the helix non-constant second radial distance from the central rotation axis. The second radial distance is smaller than the first radial distance and increases successively along the helix.

Milling tool and a tool body

A power skiving tool includes a basic body, which is equipped with a plurality of replaceable cutting inserts, by means of which chips can be carved or peeled out of a workpiece with the purpose of forming, for instance, teeth. The individual cutting insert is formed with only one cutting edge) and has a rear end in the form of a shoulder surface, against which an adjusting mechanism is pressed for the fine adjustment of the radial position of the cutting insert in relation to the basic body. On the underside of the cutting insert, there is in addition a control means, e.g. a serration connecting surface, which interacts with the corresponding control means in the appurtenant seat in the basic body. In addition, the invention concerns a power skiving cutting insert as such.

Tool and a cutting insert for power skiving

Herein a cutting insert for a power skiving tool is disclosed. The cutting insert includes an insert body having a bottom surface extending in a first plane, and a body axis extending substantially in parallel with the first plane. The insert body has a cutting end portion and opposite thereto, an abutment surface. The abutment surface extends substantially perpendicularly to the body axis and to the first plane. The cutting end portion is provided with a first and a second cutting edge, the first cutting edge and the second cutting edge being directed in a same cutting direction. Herein, further a power skiving tool including such cutting inserts is disclosed.

Cutting insert and power skiving tool

The invention relates to a milling tool for gear milling. The tool body is equipped with tangentially mounted milling inserts having four cutting edges and two holes, only one of which is utilized for a fixing screw in two of totally four index positions. By locating a screw hole in the seat of the milling insert at a distance from the radial support surface of the seat that is greater than the distance between an individual hole and a distal end of the milling insert, a clamping force is provided by means of the inherent elasticity of the fixing screw. In such a way, the milling insert is pressed against the radial support surface. By means of a transversal eccentricity, the milling insert is also pressed against a tangential support surface in the seat. By means of this construction, the two holes in differently long milling inserts can be formed with equally large distances from distal ends. Thereby, one and the same tool body can be equipped with differently long milling inserts.

Milling tool

An arrangement for controlling the process of rotary chip removing machining of a work piece includes a monitoring system for monitoring the rotary chip removing machining. The monitoring system has at least one surface acoustic wave sensor and at least one first antenna mounted to a cutting tool. At least one second antenna is arranged for wireless communication with the second antenna. Each sensor detects at least one parameter of a group of parameters consisting of strain, temperature and pressure. The sensor and the first antenna transmit the detected at least one parameter to the second antenna in response to an interrogation signal received by the first antenna. A processing unit is connected to the second antenna and transmits the interrogation signal and transmission energy to the first antenna and to the sensor via the second antenna. A control system communicates with the monitoring system to control the machining of the work piece at least partially based on the detected parameter. A cutting tool is provided with the at least one sensor and the at least one first antenna.

Arrangement for controlling the process of rotary chip removing machining of a workpiece, and a cutting tool for rotary chip removing machining

A tool for cyclo-palloid gear hobbing includes a head and a plurality of milling inserts protruding from a front side thereof. The milling inserts are mounted, two by two, in chip removal units that are detachably connected to the head. Each milling insert is clamped by a wedge and a screw that are easy to access. The wedge acts tangentially against the milling insert behind which there is a tangential support in the form of a shoulder. By clamping the milling insert with a respective wedge the milling inserts can be mounted and dismounted in a simple way, and each group of wedge+milling insert+tangential support can be located tangentially and thereby efficiently carry the cutting forces acting on the milling insert. In further aspects, an insert holder intended for the tool, a chip removal unit of an insert holder and an insert kit are disclosed.

A milling tool for hobbing a workpiece. The milling tool includes a cylindrical tool body having a rotation axis and a plurality of disc-shaped segments. Each of the segments including a hub part and a peripheral cam having a plurality of tangentially spaced-apart milling inserts. Each segment has a through hole situated on the rotation axis. Each of the holes is directed in relation to each other such that a central duct is formed in the cylindrical tool body. Bordering segments are detachably torsionally rigidly interconnected The milling tool also includes a first end piece, which on one side is detachably and torsionally rigidly interconnected with a first one of the segments and which on the other side has coupling members for torsionally rigid coupling to a source of torque, such that all torque from the source is supplied to the cylindrical tool body via the first end piece.

Milling tool formed for hobbing of workpieces having cogs has a cylindrical tool body defining a rotation axis and a plurality of disc-shaped segments. Each segment includes a hub part having two opposite plane-parallel end surfaces extending perpendicular to the rotation axis, and a peripheral cam having a plurality of tangentially spaced-apart milling inserts. Bordering segments are detachably interconnected by male and female members co-operating in pairs and situated with the rotation axis extending through the members, each of which include a contact surface converging from a big end toward a small end and, in a cross-section across the rotation axis, form an out-of-round curve. Contact surfaces are dimensioned so that, when members are brought together, they direct their two bordering segments toward an end position centered and mutually angularly determined by the out-of-round cross-section curve and where plane-parallel end surfaces abut against each other. An individual segment is disclosed.

A turning insert formed for chip-cutting metal machining of a workpiece that rotates in a direction of rotation at a first speed of rotation around a workpiece axis, the turning insert including a front surface, an envelope surface, and a circular cutting edge located where the front surface meets the envelope surface. The cutting edge extends around the front surface and lays in a plane that forms an angle &#x3b1; with the envelope surface. A tool axis extends through the turning insert in a normal direction in respect of the plane, and the turning insert, during the chip-cutting metal machining, is formed to rotate around the tool axis at a second speed of rotation. The envelope surface forms a chip surface and is arranged to meet chips formed in the chip-cutting metal machining, and the chip surface includes chip breaking means.

A milling tool for rotary cutting machining, including a tool body having a rotation axis, a plurality of insert seats adapted to receive respective milling inserts arranged in one end of the tool body, and a plurality of damping members arranged inside the tool body which suppress operation-induced vibrations in the tool. The damping members being arranged radially displaced from the rotation axis, displaced from the insert seats, and adjacent to the one end of the tool body.

Milling tool for cutting machining

A face mill and a replaceable milling insert are disclosed. The front side of the milling insert is tilted at a clearance angle (&#x3b5;) in relation to the reference plane (RP). The cutting edge of the milling insert extends between two end points, which move in circular paths of different radii. The cutting edge forms a negative radial angle (&#x3b4;) with an imaginary radial line (A) that extends from the center axis (C) of the basic body and intersects the first end point of the cutting edge. The front side and chip surface of the milling insert mutually form a nominal angle (&#x3b2;) that amounts to at most 83&#xb0; . The cutting edge is straight and in the entire length thereof situated in the reference plane (RP), the negative radial angle (&#x3b4;) thereof amounting to at least 70&#xb0;.

Face mill for fine milling

Tool for chip removing machining, including a primary tool part and a secondary tool part. The primary tool part includes a primary connecting surface, an opposite surface, a recess that extends from the primary connecting surface toward the opposite surface, and a wall section between a bottom surface of the recess and the opposite surface. The secondary tool part includes a secondary connecting surface, a protuberance that extends from the secondary connecting surface and, in a mounted state, into the recess, the protuberance having an end surface that, in the mounted state, faces the bottom surface of the recess. A fastening element, which, by a contractive force in the mounted state, connects the wall section with the protuberance. The wall section is elastically flexible and, in the mounted state, bent toward the end surface of the protuberance by the contractive force of the fastening element.

Rotatable multi-operation tool including replaceable cutting inserts of different types, and a basic body rotatable around a center axis with rear and front ends from which there is extending rearward an envelope surface in which at least one chip space is countersunk, which opens in the envelope surface and in the front end. A first cutting insert type is mounted in a first insert seat formed in one side surface of the chip space in the immediate vicinity of the front end and included in a cavity opening in the front end for the cutting insert to partly protrude axially forward from the front end. A second cutting insert type is mounted in a second insert seat formed in the same side surface as the first insert seat and situated axially behind the first insert seat and included in a cavity opening in a part of the envelope surface.

A rotatable multi-operation tool for chip removing machining, including a plurality of replaceable cutting inserts of different types, and a basic body that is rotatable around a center axis and includes a rear end and a front end from which there is extending rearward an envelope surface in which at least one chip space, delimited by two opposite side surfaces, is countersunk, which opens in the envelope surface and in the front end. A first cutting insert is mounted in a first insert seat that is formed in one side surface of the chip space and situated in the immediate vicinity of the front end and included in a cavity that opens in the front end for the cutting insert to partly protrude axially forward from the front end. A second cutting insert, of a type other than the first cutting insert, is mounted in a second insert seat, which is formed in the same side surface as the first insert seat and situated axially behind the first insert seat. The second insert seat is included in a cavity that opens in a part of the envelope surface.

A milling cutter tool including a basic body and a replaceable cutting body. The cutting body includes a set of teeth which are situated with a uniform partition along one of a pair of opposite sides of the cutting body. The cutting body is fixed in a pocket having a support surface against which the underside of the cutting body is mounted. The support surface of the pocket, and the underside of the cutting body, are tipped at a negative axial angle &#x3b3; of at least 0.5&#xb0; in relation to a center axis (C) of the basic body such that the teeth of the cutting body are located along a common, phantom helical line (X), which is concentric with the center axis (C) of the basic body and has an even pitch which corresponds to the partition between the teeth.
