Renal failure therapy system and method for electrically safe treatment

A monitoring device operates to monitor regional citrate anticoagulation (RCA) in a blood treatment system which is configured to administrate citrate to an extracorporeal blood circuit () upstream of a dialyzer () during a treatment session. At consecutive time steps during the treatment session, the monitoring device obtains a current measurement value of systemic ionized calcium (iCa) or systemic total calcium (Ca), operates a predefined algorithm on the current measurement value to generate a current computation value that represents ionized calcium (iCa, iCa) in blood at a selected location (loc2, loc3) downstream or upstream of the dialyzer () in the extracorporeal blood circuit (), and presents and/or evaluates the current computation value for assessment of the regional citrate anticoagulation. Systems and apparatuses for preparing a medical fluid are disclosed. In an example embodiment, a system is configured to initially control a dosing of a first concentrate, while not feeding a second concentrate, under feedback control via a concentration sensor to a first pump to feed the first concentrate. When a concentration has reached a preselected concentration level, a value for a feeding parameter for the first pump to feed the first concentrate is determined. In an embodiment, a dialysis machine includes a dialyser, a fluid line in fluid communication with the dialyser, an inlet valve enabling fluid to flow into the fluid line towards the dialyser during a dialysis treatment, a disinfectant line connected to the fluid line via a disinfectant valve upstream of the dialyser, the disinfectant valve enabling a disinfectant fluid to be provided to at least part of the fluid line during a disinfection procedure, and a controller programmed to open the inlet valve, while the disinfectant line is connected to a source of disinfectant fluid, to create a positive pressure gradient across the disinfectant valve as fluid flows into the fluid line towards the dialyser, the positive pressure gradient ensuring that the disinfectant fluid from the source of disinfectant fluid does not leak into the fluid line during the dialysis treatment.
