A method for providing secure access to network secure logical storage partitions is disclosed. The method comprises automatically associating at least one of a plurality of secure logical storage partitions in a storage device in a network with at least one of a plurality of uniquely identified servers in a cell in the network in response to a request for storage over the network. The method also comprises automatically associating the cell with at least one client using network isolation of the cell, and using network isolation of the storage device to restrict access to at least one of the plurality of secure logical storage partitions to the one of the plurality of uniquely identified servers in the cell. In a particular embodiment, the method also comprises determining whether storage capacity is available for the at least one client in response to the request, and automatically creating the cell if the cell does not already exist.

System and method for providing secure access to network logical storage partitions

A security-enhanced network storage device. Apparatus and methods disclosed which allow network-connected client systems or groups of such systems to access data storage devices over the network in a highly secure fashion. Systems not having the appropriate permission are excluded from access. Characteristics of such a network attached storage device include the following: (1) Clients can only access the data they have been given permission to access, based on a combination of access control lists and physical system interconnects. (2) Client data access permissions in representative embodiments are stored and managed on the security-enhanced network attached storage device and are not accessible by clients, thereby improving data security. (4) Client access permissions can be checked on a per-IP-packet basis, so that all data transfers can be validated before they occurs, thus also, improving data security. (5) Clients interact with security-enhanced network attached devices in essentially the same manner with which they interact with traditional network-based file systems. (6) In addition, new individual client systems can be automatically given access to appropriate storage by adding them to the client grouping without having to update an access control list which is maintained in the security-enhanced network attached storage device.

Security-enhanced network attached storage device

An improved heat sink assembly apparatus and method of attachment that includes a heat sink with extruded fins, an integrated circuit package, a printed circuit board and a clamp. The printed circuit board is manufactured with L-shaped holes that correspond to opposing corners of the integrated circuit package and the distance between two notched feet on the clamp. To assemble, the integrated circuit package is mounted to the printed circuit board, the heat sink is mounted to a top surface of the integrated circuit package, the clamp is mounted between extruded fins on the heat sink, and then the feet of the clamp are locked into the L-shaped holes on the printed circuit board.

Heat sink spring clamp

A computer chassis with a mother board and at least one slot opening in the back of the chassis and a daughter board attached to the chassis by a bulkhead. The bulkhead is slid into the slot opening in a self-aligning manner until the daughter board is mated to an electrical connector on the mother board. The bulkhead fits snugly into the slot opening due to side and bottom flaps on the bulkhead and wedge shaped springs on the sides of the slot opening. The top of the computer housing contains a feature to capture and hold a top edge of the daughter board against movement. The top of the computer housing also contains an EMI liner and spring clips that correspond to the top edge of the bulkhead and secures the bulkhead in the computer housing, thus providing consistent and improved EMI/RFI containment.
