An electrical arrangement, which may, for example be a magnetron, has a sealed chamber and electrically insulating fluid contained within the chamber. A temperature expansion compensation bladder comprising a helical tube is located within the chamber, the helical tube having an end open to ambient atmosphere outside the chamber, and having a closed end within the chamber.

An electron beam tube device has a magnetic frame with the top part being pivotable so as to pivot from a closed position in which the top part, including an electromagnetic coil covers the electron beam tube to an open position in which the electron beam tube is uncovered. This allows electron beam tubes with either large parts or integral parts such as output feeders to be removed from the magnetic frame without complete removal of the top plate.

An electron beam tube () having a longitudinal axis comprises a first component, such as a ceramic wall () and a second component such as a drift tube assembly having a mounting plate (). The tube further comprises means, such as member (), arranged to allow relative sliding movement of the first component relative to the second component in a radial direction. The invention helps to alleviate mechanical stresses caused by differential thermal expansion of the components.

Electron beam tubes

A tuning door is fabricated for a resonant cavity of a high frequency apparatus. Contact fingers are formed around the edge of a conductive plate. The plate is then fixed to a support by, for example, double sided adhesive tape. The conductive plate is part of the interior surface of the resonant cavity. The fingers may be formed in one operation, for example, by photoetching and are fully integral with the active surface to give optimum electrical conduction between them. Other types of high frequency apparatus may use contact fingers to provide electrical conduction between a movable wall and an adjacent conductive surface.

In an electron beam tube such as a klystron, a vacuum seal comprises a ceramic cylindrical wall on which are brazed metal rings which are welded to flares and fixed to electrodes and of a collector. Ceramic rings and are located between the metal ring and the electrodes. The cylindrical wall includes inner flanges which overlap the inner peripheries of the metal rings hence reducing the likelihood of arcing occurring between them and other parts of the arrangement at different potentials. In other embodiments of the invention, the ceramic rings are extended to shield the inner edges of the metal rings or a separate ceramic tube is positioned within the metal rings to provided shielding.
