System and method for monitoring and tracking of non cooperative devices in a communication network that includes a plurality of radio signal-enabled devices communicating with each other includes: monitoring, by each of the plurality of radio signal-enabled devices, interference signals and frequencies of the interference signals from a plurality of non-cooperative devices that are not coupled to the communication network; receiving interference signals and the frequencies from the plurality of radio signal-enabled devices; recording a power level for each of the received interference signals; identifying signals of interest and filtering out signals of no interest responsive to the power levels; detecting a unique device identification for a non-cooperative user device not coupled to the communication network, responsive to the identified signals of interest; and tracking the non-cooperative user device responsive to the identified signals of interest and the predetermined locations of the plurality of radio signal-enabled devices.

Monitoring and tracking non-cooperative devices

A wireless communication system may include a plurality of co-located transceivers. The plurality of transceivers may be configured to transmit data to at least one user equipment, according to a collision sense multiple access/collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol. A processor may receive a signal preamble and a sender address of the signal preamble and determine whether the sender address is included in the stored list of addresses. If the sender address is included in the stored list of addresses, the processor may allow simultaneous data transmission from two or more of the co-located transceivers.

System and method for co-located and co-channel Wi-Fi access points

A Wi-Fi radio distribution network (RDN) station is provided for use in a wireless communications network comprising a plurality of wireless stations. The Wi-Fi RDN station comprises a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) receiving system configured to operate in accordance with a channel estimation MIMO receiving scheme; and a RDN connected to the MIMO receiving system. The RDN comprises at least one beamformer arranged to be fed by two or more antennas, wherein each of the beamformers includes a combiner configured to combine signals coming from a plurality of antennas associated with the respective beamformer into a single signal. The MIMO receiving system is configured to perform one or both of channel estimation using a single antenna or beamforming. Both channel estimation and beamforming may be based on one or more packets addressed to one or more wireless stations in the communications network other than the Wi-Fi RDN station.

Wi-Fi radio distribution network stations and method of operating Wi-Fi RDN stations

A system and method for providing multi-beam Wi-Fi access points. The system includes one or more Wi-Fi transmit antennas beamformers; one or more Wi-Fi receive antennas or receive beamformers; and a number N of co-channel Wi-Fi access points (APs) and a number of M non co-channel APS, where all APs comply with IEEE802.11xx standard, connected to the Wi-Fi transmit antennas beamformers, wherein the Wi-Fi transmit antennas beamformers are configured to produce a plurality of non spatially adjacent beams of a common frequency, directed at a plurality of Wi-Fi user equipment (UE) such that the directional beams are sufficiently isolated from each other, and at least some of the Wi-Fi UEs communicate simultaneously with the plurality of Wi-Fi access points.

A system and method for overriding Carrier-Sense-Multiple-Access/Collision-Avoidance (CSMA/CA) and virtual carrier sense, without harming the traffic that occupies the channel is described herein. Further provided herein are measurements and qualifying criteria for performing the aforementioned channel sharing. The system and method may be based, for example, on opportunistic spatial isolation of nodes from each other and selectively implementing ultra-fast link adaptation.

System and method for simultaneous co-channel access of neighboring access points

A system and method for backhaul based explicit sounding feedback of 802.11 AP to AP channel state information (CSI) so that inter AP interference can be reduced and multiple APs transmissions that can occur simultaneously on the same radio channel. A modification may be made to APs such that they can accurately measure the CSI between them that in turn enables their respective beamformer to create pattern nulls toward each other while simultaneously developing pattern enhancements toward their intended station. An AP may send a sounding packet to its associated STAs, poll explicit feedbacks from STAs and receive backhaul CSI feedbacks from neighboring APs. There is no additional Wi-Fi overhead in physical layer. Backhaul feedback link is established through direct peer-to-peer (P2P) link which bypassed the sounding controller to reduce CSI feedback delay.

System and method for backhaul based sounding feedback

A method and apparatus for an access point (AP) accessing a channel occupied by a neighboring AP within clear channel assessment (CCA) range. The method is implemented by setting a transmit null towards the neighboring AP, while acquiring accurate channel knowledge with minimal bandwidth penalty to surrounding networks, via a combination of sparse explicit sounding, and a following implicit channel estimation of the neighboring APs for updating the explicit data achieved by the sparse explicit sounding. An AP implementing the method is also disclosed.

A wireless communication system may include a first transceiver co-located with a second transceiver. The first and second transceivers may be configured to transmit data to at least one user equipment, according to a collision sense multiple access/collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol. A processor may identify data transmission from the second transceiver and allow data transmission from the first transceiver simultaneously with data transmission from the second transceiver, on one frequency.

Method and system for digital cancellation scheme with multi-beam

A method of one AP accessing a channel occupied by a neighboring AP within CCA range, by acquiring channel knowledge via performing cooperative sounding and setting a null towards the neighboring AP, under certain conditions verifications, is provided herein. The method may include: transmitting and receive signals via a plurality of radio circuitries connected to plurality of antennas; monitoring signals received by the radio circuitries and generating a list of neighboring co-channel access points that each has plurality of antennas and are further located within a clear channel assessment (CCA) range of the access point; and instructing the radio circuitries to transmit a sounding sequence to the list of neighboring access points, and receive Channel State Information (CSI).

Method and system for explicit AP-to-AP sounding in an 802.11 network

A method and system for overriding Carrier-Sense-Multiple-Access/Collision-Avoidance (CSMA/CA) without harming the traffic that occupies the channel are provided. The system and method may include for example detecting at a communication node having a plurality of antennas, a preamble transmitted by a co-channel neighboring node operating in compliance with IEEE 802.11 standard within a clear channel assessment (CCA) range of the communication node; and setting uplink transmit weights of the antennas of the communication node, to isolate the communication node from the neighboring node after the neighboring node has transmitted the preamble, to allow the communication node to access the co-channel, by keeping a transmitted signal level of the communication node as received by the neighboring node, below the CCA signal level at one or more of the antennas of said neighboring node. The system may for example implement the method in software running on a baseband processor.

A wireless communication system may include a plurality of N co-located Wi-Fi access points, each configured to communicate with at least one user equipment. The system may further include a beamformer coupled to each of the access points and coupled to at least one antenna array. The antenna array may include a plurality of antenna elements and may be configured to provide a plurality of M spatially uncorrelated beams for a coverage area of each of the N access points.

A method and system for attenuating a received preamble in an IEEE 802.11 standard may include: a plurality of co-located access points (APs) operative in accordance with an IEEE 802.11 standard; a preamble detection unit configured to detect a transmission of a preamble in accordance of the IEEE 802.11 standard, by at least one of the co-located APs; and at least one attenuator configured to attenuate a signal received by at least one of the plurality of co-located APs upon detection of the preamble by the preamble detection unit.
