A mm wave radio communication mesh network comprises a wireless node apparatus comprising a plurality of wireless modems () and a configuration controller () arranged to perform a node configuration arranged to configure the wireless modems () as access point wireless modems or non-access point wireless modems. The configuration controller () controls a set of wireless modems to scan for access point beacons and determines a first wireless modem that has detected an access point beacon from a first target access point wireless modem. It then configures the first wireless modem as a non-access point wireless modem and controls it to connect to the first target access point modem. If the connection is successful, the configuration controller () proceeds to configure another wireless modem as an access point wireless modem.

Mm wave communication mesh network

A communication system comprises access points () communicating via directional beams and a first and second wireless modem () for establishing a first and respectively second mm wave radio communication links to access points (). The first and second wireless modems () are located on a vehicle () and employ electronically steerable beamforming directional antennas having a first main beams for establishing the radio communication links. A common network element () supports communication over both links and a connection control circuit () switches between the links while providing a single wired connection point. A multipath controller () communicates with a complementary multipath controller of the fixed network over a plurality of paths with the multipath controller () having a first wired port for a first path of the plurality of paths connected to the first single wired connection point.

Communication with vehicle based node

A communication system comprises access points () communicating via directional beams and a first and second wireless modem () for establishing a first and respectively second mm wave radio communication links to access points (). The first and second wireless modems () are located on a vehicle () and employ electronically steerable beamforming directional antennas having a first main beams for establishing the radio communication links. A common network element () supports communication over both links and a connection control circuit () switches between the links. It further transmits an address resolution message over a link when switching to that link with the message comprising identification data for the common network element ().

Communication system supporting communication between end node of a vehicle and a remote correspondent node via a fixed network

A wireless communication system supports communication between an end node of a vehicle and a correspondent node via a fixed network and wireless modems located with the vehicle. The fixed network comprises a mobility anchor being a common mobility anchor for the wireless modems and performing individual mobility management for each wireless modem, the mobility management for a wireless modem including determining communication paths from the mobility anchor to the wireless modem. A multipath proxy couples a proxy connection for the correspondent node to a plurality of subflows, each subflow being associated with one wireless modem and with the communication path determined by the mobility anchor, at least two of the subflows having communication paths via different wireless modems. The wireless modems are arranged to connect the end node and the plurality of subflows.

Wireless communication to a vehicle

A communication system comprises an access point communicating via a directional beam and a first and second wireless modem for establishing a first and respectively second mm wave radio communication link to the first access point. The first and second wireless modems are located on a vehicle and employ electronically steerable beamforming directional antennas having a first main beams for establishing the radio communication links A proximity detector detects proximity of the first wireless modem to the first access point. A switch controller switches data of a data flow from the first mm wave radio communication link to the second mm wave radio communication link in response to the detection of the proximity of the first wireless modem to the first access point.

Communication system and method for communication with vehicle based node

A communication system supporting communication for nodes of a vehicle () comprises wireless access points () for communication using directional beams. Wireless modems () of the vehicle () establish a mm wave radio communication link to an access point (). The vehicle network transmits link indications to at least one of the access points () where a link indication provides a link between a MAC address of a wireless modem () and a vehicle identity indication for the vehicle (). An air interface scheduler () for an access point () performs MAC layer scheduling over mm wave radio communication links established for the access point () in response to the first vehicle identity indication.

Wireless communication for vehicle based node

An apparatus schedules communications in a wireless communication system comprising a plurality of wireless stations (-) operable to communicate wirelessly with each other in accordance with a time division multiple access scheme. The apparatus comprises a receiver () for receiving resource requests from the plurality of wireless stations (-). A scheduler () schedules air interface resource to communications between the plurality wireless stations by allocating time intervals in repeating scheduling intervals. A transmitter () transmits scheduling messages providing indications of the scheduling to the plurality of wireless stations (-). An adapter () adapts a duration of at least one scheduling interval of the repeating scheduling intervals in response to the resource requests from the plurality of wireless stations (-).

Apparatus and method for scheduling communications in a wireless communication system

A method of maintaining data packet forwarding information in a first network node of a wireless mesh communications network having a plurality of network nodes interconnected by wireless communications links is disclosed. The method includes receiving respective activity indicators for neighbour network nodes connected with the first network node by respective wireless communications links, and determining respective link indicators for the outgoing wireless communications links of the first network node, each such link indicator being indicative of a data packet transmission characteristic for the link concerned. The method further includes, for each of the outgoing communications links of the first network node, combining the link indicator associated with that outgoing wireless communications link with the activity indicator relating to the neighbour network node connected with the first network node via that outgoing wireless communications link, thereby to generate a routing value for the outgoing wireless communications link for the destination network node. A selected next communications link for the destination network node is determined from the generated routing values; and is then stored as forwarding information relating to the selected next communications link for the destination network node concerned.

Wireless mesh communications networks

A package includes a first die and a second die. The dies are connected to each other through an interface. At least one of the first and second dies includes a plurality of signal sources, wherein each source has at least one quality of service parameter associated therewith, and a plurality of queues having a different priorities. A signal from a respective one of the signal sources is allocated to one of the plurality of queues in dependence on the at least one quality of service parameter associated with the respective signal source. The interface is configured such that signals from said queues are transported from one of said first and second dies to the other of said first and second dies.

Integrated circuit package with multiple dies and queue allocation

Systems and methods are disclosed that comprise a cache memory for storing a copy of a portion of data stored in a system memory and a cache load circuit capable of retrieving the portion of data from the system memory. The systems and methods further comprise a status memory for identifying whether or not a region of the cache memory contains data that has been accessed from the cache memory by an external device.

Cache memory system

Systems and methods for pre-fetching data are disclosed that use a cache memory for storing a copy of data stored in a system memory and mechanism to initiate a pre-fetch of data from the system memory into the cache memory. The system further comprises an event monitor for monitoring events that is connected to a path on which signals representing an event are transmitted between one or more event generating modules and a processor. In some embodiments, the event monitor initiates a pre-fetch of a portion of data in response to the event monitor detecting an event indicating the availability of the portion of data in the system memory.

Cache pre-fetching responsive to data availability

A package includes a first die and a second die. An interface connects the first die and the second die. At least one of the first and second dies includes a memory. The interface is configured to transport both control signals and memory transactions. A multiplexing circuit multiplexes the control signals and the memory transactions onto the interface such that connections of the interface are shared by the control signals and the memory transactions.

Integrated circuit package with multiple dies and a multiplexed communications interface

A circuit including an initiator of a transaction, an interconnect, and a controller. The controller is configured in response to a condition in a least one first part of the circuit to send a notification via the interconnect to at least one block in a second part of the circuit. The notification includes information about the condition in the first part of the circuit, the condition preventing a response to the transaction from being received by the initiator.
