A method of performing joint arthroplasty on a patient with a bone fragment of a bone at least partially separated from the bone in one embodiment includes providing a prosthetic component with a bone connecting portion and a bone fragment portion, implanting the bone connecting portion of the prosthetic component in the bone, and attaching the bone fragment to the bone using the bone fragment portion.

Orthopaedic stem with protrusion and associated surgical procedure

An orthopaedic surgical device for determining the joint force of a patient's joint includes a sensor housing and a handle. The sensor housing is shaped to be positioned in a patient's joint and includes a sensor array positioned therein and configured to generate sensor signals indicative of the joint force of the patient's joint. The handle includes a circuit positioned therein and configured to control a display located on the handle to provide a visual indication of the joint force of the patient's joint. The handle may be physically secured to the sensor housing or may be coupled thereto via a wire to facilitate communications between the sensor array and the circuit.

Device and method for determining forces of a patient's joint

An intramedullary nail for use in a medullary canal of an epiphysis and a diaphysis of a long bone is provided. The nail includes a body having a length in a longitudinal direction and a width in the transverse direction normal to the longitudinal direction. The body has a diaphyseal portion and a first epiphyseal portion. The diaphyseal portion has an external periphery configured for placement in the medullary canal of the diaphysis of the long bone. The diaphyseal portion defines a longitudinally extending first surface of the diaphyseal portion. The first surface defines a longitudinally extending first void. The first epiphyseal portion extends from the diaphyseal portion. The first epiphyseal portion is configured for placement in the medullary canal of the first epiphysis of the long bone. The nail also includes a first insert positioned in the longitudinally extending first void of the diaphyseal portion. The first insert and the diaphyseal portion of the body are made from different materials.

Composite intramedullary nail

A mounting bracket for use with a reference array of a computer assisted surgery system includes a base and an arcuate support frame coupled to the base. The base is configured to be secured to a bone of a patient. The arcuate support frame includes a plurality of mounts. Each mount is configured to receive a mounting end of the reference array. In some embodiments, the arcuate support frame may be pivotable with respect to the base. Additionally, in some embodiments, the arcuate support frame may be movable about an arc defined by the arcuate support frame.

Reference array mounting bracket for use with a computer assisted orthopaedic surgery system

A first articulating member for use with a second articulating member to form a prosthesis for use in joint arthroplasty for a joint formed between adjacent first and second bones in which a bone fragment having an exterior surface has separated from the first bone is provided. The first articulating member includes an articulating portion having an articulation surface for articulation with the second articulating member and an attaching portion connected to the articulating portion for attachment to the first bone. The first articulating member also includes a fragment portion connected to at least one of the articulating portion and the insertion portion. The fragment portion includes a surface for contact with the external periphery of the bone fragment.

A fracture reduction assembly and method for insertion of the assembly through a surgical site in one embodiment includes a base portion including a bone contacting surface and an upper surface, a barrel with a first end portion connected to the bone contacting surface, the base portion and the barrel defining a bore extending through the barrel and the base portion and opening at the upper surface of the base portion, a screw portion including a shaft with a first diameter sized to fit within the bore and a threaded portion with a second diameter sized to not fit within the bore, wherein at least a portion of the shaft is positioned within the bore, and a retainer coupled with the shaft and having a third diameter sized to fit within a first portion of the bore but not within a second portion of the bore.
