A cleaner head including: a brushbar arrangement including a first elongate portion, and a first curved portion located at a first end of the first elongate portion. The brushbar arrangement at least partially extends around a suction region. The cleaner head further includes a drive assembly configured to rotate the first curved portion and the first elongate portion.

A cleaner head for a vacuum cleaning appliance includes a housing which defines a suction chamber. The suction chamber has a suction inlet through which air enters the suction chamber, and a suction port through which air exits the suction chamber. The cleaner head includes a plurality of casters for supporting the cleaner head. Each caster is rotatable relative to the housing about a first axis which is perpendicular to the suction inlet. Each caster is also rotatable relative to the housing about a second axis perpendicular to the first axis. The cleaner head further includes a plurality of guide members for guiding into the suction chamber debris entrained within air drawn towards the suction inlet. Each guide member is arranged to rotate with a respective caster about the first axis.

A cleaner head for a vacuum cleaning appliance includes a housing, a front agitator and a rear agitator. A suction chamber is located between the front agitator and the rear agitator. A baffle is located within the suction chamber between the agitators. During use of the cleaner head, debris becomes entrained within air drawn towards the suction chamber. Guide members mounted on the housing guide the entrained debris towards the suction chamber, whereas the baffle guides the air upwardly towards a central suction port of the suction chamber.

The cleaner head further comprises a hollow deformable seal extending from a rear portion of the housing, the hollow deformable seal having a width at least equal to a width of the opening in the sole plate, and having a lower sealing surface that extends in a downward and rearward direction from a rear edge of the housing such that, in use, the hollow deformable seal is biased against and conforms to a surface being cleaned in order to maintain a seal between the cleaner head and the surface being cleaned.

A cleaning appliance having a cleaner head rotatably attached to a duct. The cleaner head includes a main body having an agitator chamber, an agitator rotatably mounted within the agitator chamber, and a drive assembly coupled to the agitator such that torque generated by the drive assembly is transmitted to the agitator. The drive assembly is located within the agitator such that the centre of gravity of the cleaner head is located on or near a vertical plane containing the rotational axis about which the cleaner head rotates relative to the duct.

A cleaner head including a cleaner head body, a sole plate including a rear portion and flexible lateral side portions that define at least part of the periphery of a dirty air opening. The rear portion and the flexible lateral side portions are movable relative to the cleaner head body such that, in use, the rear portion and the flexible lateral side portions conform to a surface being cleaned in order to maintain a seal between the cleaner head and the surface.

A cleaner head that includes a main body having an agitator chamber, an axle that extends into the chamber, a bearing assembly mounted on the axle, a biasing member, and an agitator mounted on the bearing assembly. The bearing assembly is moveable along the axle between a first position and a second position. The biasing member then biases the bearing assembly towards the first position, and the agitator pushes the bearing assembly against the biasing member towards the second position.

A domestic appliance such as a cyclonic vacuum cleaner includes a component such as separating apparatus, carried by a chassis. A catch is provided and is operable to release the component from the chassis. The component and the chassis are able to move slightly with respect to each other. When the appliance is lifted, lugs on the separating apparatus move into slots on the chassis so as to inhibit release of the catch when the appliance is lifted. Thus, accidental release of the separating apparatus from the chassis is avoided.

The invention relates to a cleaner-head for a vacuum cleaner. The cleaner-head has a housing, this housing being connected to a hinged soleplate assembly which can be opened and closed to provide access to the inside of the housing. In accordance with the invention, the soleplate assembly is a clip-on assembly which a user can manually un-clip from the housing, as required, to detach the soleplate assembly for separate cleaning or replacement.
