Benzimidazole derivatives of formula (I): wherein: Ris &#x2014;(CH)m-Ror Ris halo, &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;NHor &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;C(&#x2550;NH)&#x2014;NH; Ris H or F; Ris &#x2014;NH&#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;(NH)&#x2014;R, &#x2014;NH&#x2014;(CHRR) or a group of the following formula (A): (A) W is &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;, &#x2014;CH&#x2014;O&#x2014;CH&#x2014;, &#x2014;CH&#x2014;S&#x2014;CH&#x2014;, &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;S(O)&#x2014;CH&#x2014; or &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;NR&#x2014;CH&#x2014;; m is an integer of 1 to 3; n is 1 or 2; p is 1 and V is CH; or p is O and V is N; q is 0 or 1; r is 0 or 1; Ris H, &#x2014;SOMe, &#x2014;SOEt, &#x2014;SOCF, &#x2014;COMe, &#x2014;CONMe, &#x2014;CONHor &#x2014;CHCHSOMe; Ris H or C-Calkyl; and Ris &#x2014;SOMe, &#x2014;SOEt, &#x2014;SOCF, &#x2014;COMe, &#x2014;CONMe, &#x2014;CONHor &#x2014;CHCHSOMe; and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof are inhibitors of RSV and can therefore be used to treat or prevent an RSV infection. 

Pharmaceutical compounds

Pyrimidine derivatives of formula (I) wherein: Z is a direct bond or &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014; wherein n is 1 or 2; one of X and Y is N, CH or CF, and the other of X and Y is CH; one of Rand Ris selected from &#x2014;NHR, &#x2014;NR, &#x2014;OR, &#x2014;SR, &#x2014;S(O)R, &#x2014;S(O)R and a group of the following formula (A) and the other of Rand Ris selected from &#x2014;NHR', &#x2014;OH, &#x2014;OR&#x2032; and a group of the above formula (A); R is unsubstituted C-Calkyl; R&#x2032; is a group selected from C-Calkyl, 5- to 12-membered aryl and C-Ccycloalkyl, which group is unsubstituted or substituted; W is &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;, &#x2014;CH&#x2014;O&#x2014;CH&#x2014;, &#x2014;CH&#x2014;S&#x2014;CH&#x2014; or &#x2014;CH&#x2014;S(O)&#x2014;CH&#x2014;; p is 1, q is an integer of 1-6 and V is N; or p is 1, q is 0 and V is CH; or p is 0, q is 0 and V is N; r is 0 or 1; and Ris &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;NHor &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;OH wherein s is 0 or an integer of 1 to 4; and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof are inhibitors of RSV and can therefore be used to treat or prevent an RSV infection.

Benzimidazoles of formula (I): wherein: one of X and Y is an N atom or a substituted C atom, and the other is CH; L is a single bond, Calkylene, Calkenylene or Calkynylene; Ris Calkyl, Calkenyl, Calkynyl, 3- to 10-membered cycloalkyl, 5- to 10-membered heterocyclyl or 5- to 12-membered heteroaryl, each of which is unsubstituted or substituted; Z is halo, Chaloalkyl, nitro, &#x2014;CN, &#x2014;N(R)2, &#x2014;OR, &#x2014;SR, &#x2014;S(=0)R, or &#x2014;S(=0)R; each Ris independently hydrogen, Calkyl, Calkenyl or C2-6 alkynyl, wherein said alkyl, alkenyl and alkynyl groups are unsubstituted or substituted; and m is 0 or 1; and the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are inhibitors of RSV and can therefore be used to treat or prevent an RSV infection.

Benzimidazoles of formula (I): wherein: A is 5- to 12-membered aryl or 5- to 12-membered heteroaryl, each of which is unsubstituted or substituted; Y is a single bond, &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;, &#x2014;X&#x2014;, &#x2014;CH&#x2014;X&#x2014;, or &#x2014;X&#x2014;CH&#x2014;; X is &#x2014;O&#x2014;, &#x2014;S&#x2014;, &#x2014;N(R)&#x2014;, &#x3e;C&#x2550;O, &#x3e;S(&#x2550;O), &#x3e;S(&#x2550;O), &#x2014;O&#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;, &#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;O&#x2014;, N(R)&#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;, or &#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;N(R)&#x2014;; each L is independently a single bond, Calkylene, Calkenylene or Calkynylene; Ris Calkyl, Calkenyl or Calkynyl, each of which is unsubstituted or substituted; each Z is independently &#x2014;N(R), &#x2014;OR, &#x2014;SR, &#x2014;S(&#x2550;O)R, &#x2014;S(&#x2550;O)R; each Ris independently hydrogen, Calkyl, Calkenyl or Calkynyl, wherein said alkyl, alkenyl and alkynyl groups are unsubstituted or substituted; m is 0, 1, 2, or 3; n is 1, 2, or 3; and p is 1, 2, or 3; and the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are inhibitors of RSV and can therefore be used to treat or prevent an RSV infection. 

Compounds of Formula (I): salts or solvates or physiologically functional derivatives thereof, wherein Z is CH or N, and R, R, and Rare various substituent groups, are protein kinase inhibitors
