An articulating implant system is provided for fixation to a bone. The articulating implant system includes a fixation component for fixation to the bone and an articulating member for articulating against bone or cartilage. Specifically, a modular ulnar implant is provided in accordance with the articulating implant system of the present invention wherein the fixation component is a stem for insertion into the intramedullary canal of the distal ulna and the articulating member is a head for articulating with the radial sigmoid notch.

Articulating implant system

An apparatus for guiding the resection of the head of a humerus is provided. The apparatus includes a base, a cut block, and a stylus. The guide is used in connection with a reamer or other tool that is inserted into the intramedullary mayal of the humerus with the shank of the reamer extending superiorally above the head of the humerus to establish the axis of the humerus. The base is in rotatable connection with the reamer. The cut block is removably attached to the guide and has a component for receiving a saw blade. The stylus attaches to the cut block, preferably by engaging the component for receiving the saw blade, and extends around the articular margin of the humeral head to aid in setting height and version.

A series of humeral stems, each stem including an axial bore and longitudinal slots along the distal end to allow for distal compression. The compression force necessary to compress the distal diameter of each stem varies by stem diameter. Thus, as the stem diameter increases through the series, the compression force decreases.

A modular radial head system including a modular implant for replacing the head of the proximal end of a radius and for articulating with the capitellum of a humerus. The modular implant includes a modular head and an modular stem. The system further includes a modular radial head locking instrument for locking the modular head and the modular stem of the modular implant to one another. The locking instrument includes a first jaw, a second jaw, and a control mechanism for urging the first and second jaws together to provide offset axial compression of the modular head and the modular stem of the modular implant.
