Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for generating, transmitting, directing, receiving, and processing optical subcarriers. In some implementations, a system includes a Tier 1 switch that supplies a plurality of data channels; a transmitter that receives the plurality of data channels, the transmitter including an optical modulator that supplies a plurality of optical subcarriers based on the plurality of data channels; an optical platform that receives the plurality of optical subcarriers, the optical platform having a plurality of outputs, each of which supplying at least one of the plurality of subcarriers; a plurality of receivers, each receiving one or more of the plurality of optical subcarriers and supplying one or more of the plurality of data channels; and a plurality of servers, each of which receiving one or more of the plurality of data channels.

Subcarrier based data center network architecture

Systems, methods, and devices for managing latency in a network with a plurality of switches, each switch having client side ports and line side ports. A required bandwidth for each link between connected pairs of the plurality of switches is received. A client-side capacity value for each switch is received. An initial undersubscription factor is calculated based on the required bandwidths and the client-side capacity values. A desired undersubscription factor is calculated for each switch based on the initial undersubscription factor and the client side capacity values. A desired bandwidth is calculated for each link between connected pairs of the plurality of switches based on the required bandwidths and the desired undersubscription factors.

Managing latencies in data center interconnect switches using spare line side bandwidth and multiple paths inside the data center

A system is provided for the storage of content on a network and the delivery of content to subscriber locations. The system includes routers and subscriber set-top boxes in communication with each other and a main content source. Content is delivered over a packet-switching network according to a peer to peer file distribution protocol and is stored in a storage area of the subscriber set-top box, such that each subscriber set-top box is configured to transmit and receive content to and from the main content source and other set-top boxes connected to the network. The set-top boxes may identify a preferred source of content based on various factors, such as geographic distance, Internet Protocol (IP) distance, available bandwidth, integrity of the content, etc. An associated method for accessing content and a set-top box for facilitating the storage and delivery of content are also provided.

Content storage and delivery system and associated method and device

A device may include a first optical port configured to receive an optical signal and a demultiplexer to spatially separate the optical signal into multiple optical signals. Each of the multiple optical signal may have a different carrier wavelength. The device may also include a switch element with plasmons. The switch element may receive one of the multiple optical signals, direct the received one of the multiple optical signals, and couple energy of the plasmons to energy of the directed optical signal. The device may further include a second optical port. The second optical port may receive the directed optical signal with the coupled energy of the plasmons, and transmit the received, directed optical signal.
