Disclosed herein are wireless products adapted to be positioned in a normal or resting position, that also include an antenna composed of a set of elements arranged in a plane in a radially symmetrical configuration providing a reduction in the susceptibility of reflected waves having the potential to cancel or weaken a main wave or signal, the plane positioned with respect to the normal position to direct a main communication line with a second wireless device into the plane and provide reception of a main and/or secondary signal at a plurality of phases. One exemplary product is a wireless conferencing device configured to rest on a tabletop, the antenna array oriented in a horizontal plane. Detailed information on various example embodiments of the inventions are provided in the Detailed Description below, and the inventions are defined by the appended claims.

A system for producing significant quantities of noble metals from low-grade ore. A mixture of particulate feed containing small amounts of noble metals, a base metal, and activated carbon are placed in a non-conducting container. The container is surrounded by a coiled transmission line and heated via a combustion chamber. Pairs of electrical pulses having equal amplitudes and opposing directions are applied to each end of the transmission line so that the opposing pulses collide within the transmission line, the collision points traveling in a sweeping motion along the transmission line. Other pairs of pulses are sent in repeated cycles of multi-chord pulse trains, each chord having a specific frequency ranging preferably between 5000 to 7000 cycles per second.

System for producing noble metals

Synchronized receiver circuitry and methods are provided for a spread-spectrum communications system which includes a transmitter for generating a data-modulated carrier signal encoded with a predetermined discrete-stepped, cyclical pseudo-random noise code sequence, and a receiver for despreading and demodulating the encoded spread-spectrum modulated carrier signal. The receiver has a pseudo-random noise code generator, a mixer connected to the pseudo-random noise code generator for mixing the encoded spread-spectrum modulated carrier signal with the code sequence provided by the pseudo/random noise code generator to despread the carrier signal, and an indicator in the receiver for generating a received signal strength indicator analog signal. The synchronized receiver includes a clock which provides a frequency output corresponding to the frequency of the clock driving the pseudo-random noise code generator in the transmitter. The synchronized receiver also has an analog-to-digital converter for converting the analog signal to a digital signal indicative of the best correlation between the frequency and PN phase of the transmitted modulated carrier signal and the received modulated carrier signal. The synchronized receiver also includes decoding circuitry connected to the clock and the analog-to-digital converter for sampling the analog signal received at each of a plurality of discrete steps in the PN code, and code chips for determining the peak step when the sampled signal reaches its maximum strength during the code sequence and chip partial period, and for aligning the receiver code sequence with the transmitted code sequence.

Spread spectrum synchronized receiver and synchronizing methods

A blast-hardened electrical connector for securing and maintaining electrical conductors in electrical contact. The device includes a housing having a chamber positioned near its mid portion. A plurality of conduits extend between the exterior of the housing and the chamber, each pair of conduits forming a passage within which an electrical conductor is slideably secured. Each passage passes through the chamber so that electrical conductors are brought into contact within the chamber. The chamber is configurated such that the conductors are maintained in electrical contact, even during conditions when the conductors are caused to slide axially within their respective passageways. The exterior of the connector and the conductor insulation adjacent to the exterior of the connector, are potted with an epoxy material to fix the position of insulation with respect to the connnector, and to increase structural integrity for the connector assembly.

Hardened electrical connector

An impact-hardened coupling device and method for matching the impedance of two or more separate electrical elements such as found in an antenna assembly, and for securing and maintaining the electrical elements in impact-hardened electrical contact. Electrical conductors are mounted in a terminal in slideably electrical contact. The electrical conductors are configurated so that their effective impedance substantially matches the line-to-line impedance of a transmission line in turn connected to a transceiver or like equipment. An electrical surge arrester is provided to protect the conductors and the interconnected electrical elements from high loading situations occurring in response to exposure to electromagnetic pulse radiation. The terminals are potted with a resinous material to provide impact protection to the components of the device while continuing to maintain electrical contact between the conductors.
