A wellbore isolation system is disclosed. The wellbore isolation system includes a junction positioned at an intersection of a first wellbore and a second wellbore, and a deflector disposed in the junction such that a path into the first leg of the junction is obstructed and engaged with the first leg of the junction to form a fluid and pressure tight seal. The junction includes a first leg extending downhole into the first wellbore, and a second leg extending downhole into the second wellbore. The deflector includes a channel extending axially through the deflector, and a degradable plug disposed in the channel and engaged with the channel to prevent fluid flow through the channel.

Provided, in one aspect, is a drillable window assembly. The drillable window assembly, in this aspect, includes a first precut casing joint, the first precut casing joint including a first casing tubular having two or more radially offset slots along an interior surface thereof, and a second precut casing joint coupled to the first precut casing joint, the second precut casing joint including a second casing tubular having a sidewall opening formed therein. The drillable window assembly, as contained within this aspect, further includes an outer sleeve surrounding the sidewall opening in the second casing tubular.

A deflector assembly for an object in a well. The deflector assembly may include a tubular housing and a core plug. The tubular housing may include a window through a wall of the tubular housing, a deflector below the window. The deflector may include a cavity extending through an axial length of the deflector and a deflector angled surface that is shaped to direct the object toward the window. The core plug may be removably coupleable within the cavity and include a receptacle and a second angled surface that is shaped to direct the object toward the window. The second angled surface is aligned with the deflector angled surface. The core plug may be coupleable with the deflector so as to rotate with the deflector.

A casing exit joint with guiding profiles and methods for use are provided. In one embodiment, a casing exit joint comprises: a substantially tubular casing joint comprising an inner surface and an outer surface, wherein at least a circumferential portion of the inner surface comprises a plurality of axial inner grooves. In certain embodiments, at least a circumferential portion of the outer surface may comprise a plurality of axial outer grooves. The casing exit joint may be disposed in a wellbore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation, and a cutting tool may cut a window through at least a portion of the casing exit joint. In certain embodiments, the axial inner grooves and/or outer grooves may reduce the amount of milling debris, prevent lateral displacement of the cutting tool, and/or eliminate the need to pre-orient the casing exit joint to achieve the desired exit window.

The deflector includes a channel extending axially through the deflector, and a degradable plug disposed in the channel and engaged with the channel to prevent fluid flow through the channel.

In some aspects, a downhole assembly is provided that can include a window joint positioned within a tubular element and a bypass restrictor. The bypass restrictor can be positioned in an annulus between an outer surface of the window joint and an inner surface of the tubular element. The bypass restrictor can restrict the flow of a pressurized fluid via the annulus from a first end to a second end of a wiper plug.

A method includes conveying a whipstock and a latch anchor into a parent wellbore, the latch anchor being attached to the whipstock at a releasable connection and the parent wellbore being lined with casing that includes a latch coupling. The latch anchor is secured to the latch coupling and the whipstock is then separated from the latch anchor at the releasable connection and thereby exposing a portion of the releasable connection. The whipstock is then removed from the parent wellbore and a completion deflector is subsequently conveyed into the parent wellbore in combination with lateral tubing (with or without a multilateral junction positioned thereabove), and the completion deflector is attached to the latch coupling at the releasable connection. The lateral tubing (with or without multilateral junction positioned thereabove) is then installed to correct depth.

Whipstock and deflector assembly for multilateral wellbores

A system and method for milling a casing in a wellbore wherein an upper milling portion of a milling system engages a track of a lower guide system of the milling system in order to orient the upper milling portion. The upper milling portion moves along a track from a first position to a second position, where the the upper milling portion is securedly affixed to the lower guide portion. A traveling guide arm is used to move the milling portion along a travel path. A piston on the traveling guide arm is disposed between first and second fluid chambers, with a throughbore in the piston forming a fluid path between the two chambers. An adjustable valve in the throughbore is controlled by a proximity sensor to alter the flow of fluid between the chambers. The sensor monitors the distance between a fixed and moving point of the milling system.

A system for circumferentially aligning a downhole latch subsystem in a wellbore. The system includes an outer tool assembly including a latch coupling having a latch profile and a slot subassembly having an axially extending slot profile. An inner tool assembly is positionable within the outer tool assembly. The inner tool assembly includes a latch assembly having a plurality of latch keys and an orienting subassembly having a plurality orienting keys. In operation, after axial alignment of the orienting subassembly with the slot subassembly, rotation of the orienting subassembly causes operable engagement of at least one orienting key with the slot profile and, thereafter, axial alignment of the latch assembly with the latch coupling causes operable engagement of the latch keys with the latch profile.

Assemblies can be disposed in a subterranean bore. An assembly can include a recessed portion in an inner wall and another recessed portion in an outer wall. The recessed portions can each be configured to have a cross-sectional thickness that is less than at least another part of the assembly. The assembly can provide a seal between an inner region defined by the assembly and an environment exterior to the assembly prior to a window being created in the recessed portion in the outer wall through which a branch wellbore can be formed. The recessed portion in the inner wall can guide a cutting tool toward the recessed portion in the outer wall.
