A flexible hose or pipe () is reinforced by means of at least one flattened steel wire () with natural edges. The steel wire has a thickness-to-width ratio t/w below 0.95, a tensile strength Rexceeding 3500&#x2212;2000&#xd7;d, where d is the diameter of a circle having the same cross-sectional surface and where Ris expressed in Mpa and a permanent elongation at maximum load Aof at least 0.70%. The flattening of the steel wire () allows to recuperate ductility which has been lost as a result of the drawing until the final tensile strength R.

Flat high-tensile wire as hose reinforcement

An elongation cord adapted for the reinforcement of elastomer structures has a polymer core and three to nine strands twisted around the core with a cord twisting step in a cord twisting direction. At least one of the strands a first group of filaments and a second group of filaments. The first group of filaments is twisted with a first twisting step in a first twisting direction and the second group of filaments is twisted with a twisting step in a second twisting direction. The first twisting step is different from the second twisting step or the first twisting direction is different from the second twisting direction, or both. The first twisting direction is equal to the cord twisting direction and the first twisting step is equal to the cord twisting step.

Hybrid high elongation cord

A steel cord adapted for the reinforcement of elastomers includes: a core steel filament with a diameter dand coated with a polymer, six intermediate steel filaments with a diameter dsmaller than or equal to d, the intermediate steel filaments being twisted around the core steel filament, ten to eleven outer steel filaments with a diameter d, smaller than or equal to dwherein these outer steel filaments are twisted around the intermediate steel filaments, and the outer steel filaments are preformed in order to allow rubber penetration inside the cord. The core steel filament, the intermediate steel filaments, and the outer steel filaments all have a tensile strength of at least 2600 MPa. The cord has an outer diameter D according to the following formula: D&#x2266;d+2&#xd7;d+2&#xd7;d+0.1 mm, wherein all diameters are expressed in millimeters (mm).

The distances between two neighboring elongated elements, as measured along a line parallel to the axis of the spool, is not more than 10 mm along 90% of the length of each elongated element.

A steel cord comprises a metal core strand and adjacent layer of steel elements. Between the metal core strand and adjacent layer of steel elements, a polymer layer with a minimum thickness of more than 0.02 mm is provided. A steel cord comprises a core with one or more core steel filaments and further comprises a first layer of intermediate steel filaments twisted around the core, and a second layer of second steel filaments twisted around the first layer. At least one of the intermediate steel filaments is individually coated by means of a polymer with a minimum thickness of 0.010 mm. The polymer reduces the fretting between the coated intermediate steel filaments and the other steel filaments and makes the steel cord suitable for reinforcement of carcass plies of a tire.

Steel cord includes a first group and a second group. The second group is helically twisted around the first group with a cord twisting step. The first group includes a first number of first steel filaments. The first number ranges between three and eight. The second group comprises a second number of second steel filaments. At least one of the second filaments is polygonally performed in order to allow rubber penetration.

The invention relates to a composite cord ( ) for reinforcement of elastomers comprising a core ( ) of a high polymer material, a first layer of steel filaments ( ) twisted around said core and a second layer of steel filaments ( ) twisted around said first layer. The polymer material is present in a sufficient volume to create gaps between adjacent filaments of the first layer and possibly also between the filaments of the second layer. The composite cord is characterized by a decreased fretting of the steel filaments.
