A method for controlling a compressor that includes a compressor element, whereby during a transition from full load or partial load to zero load, a process A is followed that involves: (1) reducing the inlet pressure; and (2) reducing the speed and/or the drive torque. During a transition from zero load to part load or full load, a process B is followed that involves: (3) increasing of the speed or drive; and (4) increasing the inlet pressure.

Method for controlling a compressor

Method for recovering energy when compressing a gas using a compressor system with two or more compression stages, with each stage having a compressor element. Downstream from at least two compressor elements there is a heat exchanger having a primary and a secondary part. The coolant is guided successively in series through the secondary part of at least two heat exchangers, and the guiding sequence is chosen such that the temperature at the inlet of the primary part of at least one subsequent heat exchanger is higher than or equal to the temperature at the inlet of the primary part of a preceding heat exchanger, relative to the direction of flow of the coolant. At least one heat exchanger is provided with a tertiary part for a coolant.

Method for recovering energy

Device for compressing and drying gas includes a multistage compressor with a low pressure stage, a high pressure stage, and a pressure pipe; and an adsorption dryer with a drying zone and a regeneration zone. An intercooler is located between the low pressure stage and high pressure stage, and the device includes a heat exchanger with a main compartment with an inlet part and an outlet part for a first primary fluid. The ends of the tubes of the heat exchanger are connected to a separate inlet compartment and outlet compartment for each series of tubes. A first series of tubes forms a cooling circuit of the intercooler in order to heat up gas from the high pressure stage for the regeneration of the adsorption dryer.

A heat exchanger having a housing with a bottom, an upper wall and side walls. Additionally, onto two pairs of opposite side walls, a front wall and a back wall respectively, are connected a supply and a discharge for the gas to be cooled. A mechanism is provided in the housing for separating condensate from the cooled gas. The mechanism includes a series of corrugated vertical walls upon which are provided crosswise extending ribs forming vertical gutters extending only from the bottom up to the upper wall of the housing. Additionally, holes are provided in the bottom for the discharge of the separated condensate from the gutters via a collector. The collector extends from at least under the holes to under an opening which is provided in the bottom between the mechanism for separating condensate and the back wall.

Heat exchanger

Heat exchanger which mainly consists of a housing with a bottom, an upper wall and side walls, whereby onto two pairs of opposite side walls, the front wall and the back wall respectively, are connected a supply and a discharge for the gas to be cooled, and whereby channels are provided in the housing, according two cross directions, characterized in that, between the above-mentioned channels and the above-mentioned back wall, means are provided for separating condensate from the cooled gas.
