The present invention relates to a fixture for insertion into a bore hole arranged in bone tissue, comprising a threaded leading portion and a threaded trailing portion located coronally of the leading portion, wherein the threading of the leading portion has at least one first thread spiral, wherein the threading of the trailing portion has at least one more thread spiral than the threading in the leading portion, wherein the threading of the trailing portion and the threading of the leading portion have the same or substantially the same lead, wherein the profile of at least one of the thread spirals in the trailing portion is, at least along a portion of its length, substantially the same as the profile of the outermost parts of said first thread spiral in the leading portion, and wherein the at least one thread spiral in the trailing portion having substantially the same profile as the outermost part of said first thread spiral in the leading portion is arranged to follow the spiral path of that thread spiral.

Fixture

A fixture for insertion into a bore hole arranged in bone tissue is provided. The fixture has a threaded leading portion provided with at least one cutting edge for creating a female thread in the bone tissue, and a threaded trailing portion following the leading portion in the created female thread. Compared to the geometry of a thread peak of said cutting edge of the leading portion, a thread peak of the trailing portion is displaced or overdimensioned in at least one of the coronal and apical directions of the fixture so that a strain is provided to the bone when said displaced or overdimensioned thread peak engages with the created female thread. A fixture set for creating a strain is also provided, the set includes a fixture and a separate thread maker.

Fixture and a fixture set

The invention relates to a fixture, such as a dental fixture, for insertion into a bore hole arranged in bone tissue. The fixture has two condensation portions, which may be designed to provide the same or different tensile strain levels to the cortical and cancellous bone tissue, respectively. The invention also relates to a thread maker for making a female thread in bone tissue prior to insertion of a fixture. The invention further relates to a fixture set, having a thread maker and a fixture.

The present invention relates to a fixture, such as a dental fixture, for insertion into a bore hole arranged in bone tissue, comprising a threaded leading portion and a threaded trailing portion located coronally of the leading portion. By a widened threading at the trailing portion, the bone tissue is subjected to a static strain beyond the yield strain of the bone tissue. The invention also relates to a fixture set and to a method of insertion of a fixture into a bore hole arranged in bone tissue.

A method of processing a surface of a metallic implant, such as a dental implant, to provide a desirable surface roughness, comprising subjecting the metallic implant to blasting with particles of one or more titanium oxides, including at least one non-stoichiometric titanium oxide, the particles having a compact morphology and a particle size in the range of from 1 to 300 &#x3bc;m. The resulting implant surface showed unexpectedly high retention strength after implantation in bone.

The present invention relates to a set of fixtures for installation in bone tissue. Each fixture provides a static strain to the bone which is different from the static strain provided by the other fixtures of the set. The difference in static strain may be at least with respect to magnitude and/or axial extension. The invention also relates to an implantation system and a method of selecting a fixture from a set of fixtures.

The invention relates to a dental fixture for insertion into a human jawbone. The fixture comprises a bone-contacting surface, wherein a resulting filtered set of data presents a surface roughness having the roughness average parameter S&#x2267;1 &#x3bc;m and the two-dimensional mean slope parameter R&#x2267;tan 30&#xb0; for at least 15% of the bone-contacting surface.

Dental implant () for rotation into the bone tissue of a jaw bone consisting of a body having an axis of rotation, a coronal end surface (), an apical end surface () and a generally cylindrical section () which has a coronal edge coincident with, or in close proximity to, the coronal end surface and an outer peripheral surface which extends apically towards the apical end surface from the coronal edge. The outer peripheral surface is presented by a circumferentially-oriented roughness () comprising a series of circumferentially-oriented peaks which are axially spaced apart by troughs and oriented at an inclined angle to the axis of rotation. The height from the troughs to the peaks throughout the circumferentially-oriented roughness is greater than 0.2 mm.

The present invention is based on that local administration of lithium ions in bone tissue has been found to improve the bone formation and bone mass upon implantation of a bone tissue implant in said bone tissue. In particular, the invention relates to a bone tissue implant having an implant surface covered by an oxide layer comprising lithium ions and a method for the manufacture thereof. A blasting powder comprising lithium ions, a method for locally increasing bone formation, and the use of lithium ions or a salt thereof for manufacturing a pharmaceutical composition for locally increasing bone formation are also provided by the present invention.

A self-tapping implant includes a shaft including a coronal end, an apical end, an outer surface having a first axial section and a second axial section, and a self-tapping configuration at the first axial section. The first axial section may be located coronally of the second axial section. Each of the first and second axial sections may include a series of peaks being axially spaced apart by troughs. In addition, the axial spacing between the adjacent peaks in the first axial section may be different than the axial spacing between adjacent peaks in the second axial section. A coronal end portion of the shaft may include the first axial section of the outer surface, and an apical end portion of the shaft may include the second axial section of the outer surface.

Implant having circumferentially oriented roughness

Implant () having a shaft which is adapted in use to be embedded in bone tissue and which has an outer surface provided with a circumferentially-oriented roughness. The circumferentially-oriented roughness has first and second axial sections () with each section comprising a series of circumferentially-oriented peaks which have a crest and which are axially spaced apart by troughs. The axial spacing (d) between the crests of adjacent peaks in the first axial section () is less than the axial spacing (3d) between the crests of adjacent peaks in the second axial section (). Although the axial spacing between the crests of adjacent peaks in the first and second axial sections of circumferentially-oriented roughness differs, the first and second axial sections of circumferentially-oriented roughness are adapted in use to provide the same or substantially the same pitch.

A self-tapping dental implant includes a shaft including a coronal end, an apical end, self-tapping structure at the apical end, and an outer surface having a first axial section and a second axial section. The first axial section may be located coronally of the second axial section. Each of the first and second axial sections may include a series of peaks being axially spaced apart by troughs. In addition, the axial spacing between the adjacent peaks in the first axial section may be different than the axial spacing between adjacent peaks in the second axial section. Substantially all of the troughs in the first axial section may lie on an axial plane parallel to a main axis of the dental implant. Furthermore, the self-tapping structure may extend coronally from the apical end into the first axial section. A coronal end portion of the shaft may include the first axial section of the outer surface, and an apical end portion of the shaft may include the second axial section of the outer surface.
