Various embodiments of a seal for a stent-valve, and methods of production, are described. In some embodiments, the seal or a skirt comprises a fabric wall portion and a polymeric material fused to the fabric wall portion, the polymeric material having a melting temperature that is lower than that of the fabric wall portion. The fibres of the fabric may remain unmelted at the interface with the polymeric material, the polymeric material being attached to material to the fibres of the fabric wall portion by fusion. The polymeric material may provide a welded joint to another fabric wall portion and/or may reinforce the fabric and/or may occlude pores of the fabric.

Stent seals and method of production

A delivery apparatus for delivering a stent-valve for implantation within the body, the delivery apparatus configured for introduction into the body through an arterial introducer of a type having a stem insertable into the body and a mouth section that remains outside the body, the mouth section including a haemostasis valve, and wherein the delivery apparatus comprises: a first constraining sheath at a stent-valve accommodation region of the apparatus at a distal end of the apparatus, and configured for constraining at least a portion of a stent-valve at the accommodation region in a radially collapsed configuration; a delivery introducer captive on the delivery apparatus, and slidable between a first position surrounding at least a portion of the stent-valve accommodation region, and a second position in which the delivery introducer slides proximally of the stent-valve accommodation region; wherein the delivery introducer is insertable at least partly into the mouth of a said arterial introducer, the delivery introducer configured for introducing the stent-accommodation region through the haemostasis valve.

Stent-valve, delivery apparatus and method of use

Embodiments of the present disclosure are related to devices and techniques for para-valve sealing of an expandable stent-valve implanted using a catheter. In some embodiments, a stent-valve is provided which comprises a seal sleeve/cuff containing material that swells when contacted by blood. A piercing tool may be included and used to permit a user to puncture the sleeve/cuff prior to introduction into a patient's body. In some embodiments, the sleeve/cuff has an integral tubular structure configured to withstand balloon expansion of the stent-valve during or after implantation. In some embodiments, the seal is provided as a separate component from the stent-valve.

Prosthesis seals and methods for sealing an expandable prosthesis

A delivery catheter for a prosthetic heart valve, the valve expandable from a collapsed condition for delivery to an ex paneled condition for implantation, the delivery catheter comprising: a holder for engaging the valve in the collapsed state of the valve, the holder configured such that (i) in response to a radial compression force exerted thereon, the holder has a first shape defining an exposed engagement region for engaging at least a portion of the collapsed prosthetic heart valve for restraining axial displacement of the prosthetic valve in at least one axial direction of the catheter, and (ii) in response to removal of the radial compression force upon expansion of the valve, at least a portion of the holder transitions to a second shape.

Stent-valves for valve replacement and associated methods and systems for surgery

A stent-valve for transcatheter implantation to replace a cardiac valve, the stent valve being compressible to a compressed state for delivery, and expandable to an operative state for implantation, the stent-valve comprising a stent, a plurality of leaflets for defining a prosthetic valve, an inner skirt, an outer skirt, and a paravalve seal for sealing against surrounding tissue. In some embodiments, the paravalve seal comprises material that swells in response to contact with blood. In some embodiments, the seal comprises a flap or pocket that is distensible in response to backpressure and/or paravalve back-flow of blood.

Transcatheter stent-valves

Apparatus () for compressing a transcatheter cardiac stent-valve () comprises: a first compressor stage () including a hollow channel () with a tapered interior surface configured for compressing a stent-valve in response to longitudinal advancement of the stent-valve within the channel; and a second compressor stage () comprising a crimper for compressing a portion of the stent-valve without longitudinal advancement.

An application system for a stent comprising a catheter having at least one retention structure permanently connected to the catheter and a stent drawn onto the catheter using at least one retention element. The retention structure provides a retention area which receives and fixes the retention element. The retention element of the stent and the retention structure of the catheter have their geometry and position tailored to one another in such a way that the retention element is located in the retention area of the retention structure in the non-expanded state of the stent and the retention structure and/or the retention element are offset to one another upon expansion of the stent or at least in the expanded state of the stent so that the retention element is no longer located in the retention area of the retention structure.
