A device for the laser weld joining of sheet metal strips includes the following elements: a main frame, a laser welding unit including a laser beam generator for welding the sheet metal strips to be joined and a welding head, a clamping jaw unit supported by the frame and used to clamp the sheet metal strips, and a shearing unit for shearing the head and tails of the sheet metal strips to be joined. The shearing unit includes upper blades mounted to a blade holder and lower blades which can move in relation to the upper blades and which are designed to shear a strip, as well as a blade connecting structure fixed to the frame, the above-mentioned welding head being mobile between the blade holder and the lower blades.

Device for the weld joining of sheet metal strips

A measuring method and a device are adapted for the positioning of a wheel for mash seam resistance welding in the butt-joining of steel strips on continuous processing lines. A rotary roller which is fastened to a movable frame is positioned in a measuring position that is vertically below a reference wheel. The reference wheel is lowered vertically to come into contact and bear on the rotary roller. A distance between an index on a measuring arm of the frame and an articulated column is repeatedly measured during the continuous lowering movement of the roller. The distance is compared with a distance threshold for each of the repeated measurements until the wheel reaches a first operating position where the distance equals a predefined distance threshold factor. The first operating position is recorded as a reference point in a system for the vertical movement of the reference wheel.

Position-measuring method and device adapted for the positioning of a wheel

A method is provided for adjusting the thickness of the welding bead of two bands obtained by butt welding by means of a laser beam without using filler material. The bands are clamped in jaws, both cut edges being spaced apart by a reference distance. Then the mobile jaw is moved along a travel. Said travel differs from said reference distance by an offset calculated in relation to the thickness of the bands, and while taking into account the degree of accuracy of the positioning and of the cut of said edges. The offset is counted as positive or negative, in order to obtain a final welding position such that it exists, between the edges, an actual allowance, positive or negative, adapted to the thickness of the bands.
