A trailing edge coupon for the trailing edge of a airfoil of a turbine nozzle segment is welded to an airfoil section of the nozzle segment having a damaged trailing edge portion removed. The coupon includes film cooling holes spaced one from the other along a pressure side wall portion of the coupon and a plurality of radially spaced openings along the trailing edge. By welding the pressure and suction side edges of the coupon to the pressure and side edges of the remaining portion of the airfoil, the operating life of the nozzle is extended.

A method for removing an oxide material from a crack in a substrate, the method includes: applying a slurry paste comprising a fluoride salt to the crack; heating the slurry paste and the crack to at least a melting point of the fluoride salt to form a reaction product; and removing the reaction product.

A gage assembly for measuring a distance d from an end edge of a blade segment to a center location of a groove formed in the segment comprising a gage body having at least two reference surfaces adapted to engage edges of the segment; a dial indicator gage having a dial and a stem, the stem passing through a portion of the gage body; and a slide gage adapted for insertion into the groove, the slide gage fitted with an element that, in use, aligns with the stem of the dial indicator gage.
