A computing device comprises a primary printed circuit board (PCB), one or more computing components mounted to the primary PCB, a baseboard management controller (BMC) mounted to the primary PCB, a power subsystem, and a logic device coupled to the primary PCB. The power subsystem comprises a power controller with a first logic pin, and the logic device is communicably connected to the first logic pin. The logic device is configured to program the power controller by placing the power controller in a programming mode and inputting programming information into the power controller via the first logic pin.

Programming power controllers via logic device

A power supply unit (PSU) comprises power conversion circuitry to convert input power into output power for an electronic system, microcontrollers to control operations of the power conversion circuitry, and a secure element communicably connected to a first microcontroller. The secure element and the microcontrollers are all paired together with each storing shared pairing information. The secure element and the microcontrollers comprise security logic. The security logic may be configured to, in response to a power on sequence being initiated, validate the secure element and the microcontrollers based on the shared pairing information, and make completion of the power on sequence conditional on successful validation. The security logic may be configured to, in response to receiving a new firmware image for updating one of the microcontrollers, use the secure element to validate the new firmware image and make acceptance of the new firmware image conditional on successful validation.

Security for power supply unit microcontrollers

A method for synchronizing startup of a plurality of power supplies in an electrical system includes supplying input power to a first power supply to supply power to an auxiliary converter and an auxiliary controller. The method also includes monitoring, via the auxiliary controller, a signal shared by each of the plurality of power supplies. The method further includes incrementally increasing, via the auxiliary controller, a value of the shared signal to a next incremental value of a plurality of specified values. The method also includes enabling, via the auxiliary controller, each of the power supplies to supply power to a load when the value of the shared signal is set to a maximum value of the specified values.

Synchronized startup of power supplies in electrical systems

Example implementations relate to sequential resets of redundant subsystems. For example, in an implementation, a controller may receive a maintenance activity instruction and may perform the maintenance activity on the redundant subsystems. After performance of the redundant subsystems, the controller may sequentially reset each of the redundant subsystems. The controller may wait a random delay between sequential resets of the redundant subsystems.
