Cable management rack

A cable management rack is provided within which a heat-generating device is mountable. The rack includes a first upright and a second upright attached to opposite respective lateral sides of a base and a top member, and respective side-facing panels. Each of the panels defines a plurality of vent holes arranged in an array. A cable management system includes a cable management rack for accommodating a heat generating device, a first baffle mounted with respect to a first upright of the rack and for redirecting a rearward flow of cool air sideways from a space adjacent a front side of the rack, and a second baffle mounted with respect to a second upright of the rack and for redirecting a sideways flow of exhaust air from the rack and through the second upright into a space adjacent a rear side of the rack.

A cable management system is provided that includes a cable management rack for accommodating a heat generating device, a first baffle mounted with respect to a first upright of the rack and for redirecting a rearward flow of cool air sideways from a space adjacent a front side of the rack, and/or a second baffle mounted with respect to a second upright of the rack and for redirecting a sideways flow of exhaust air from the rack and through the second upright into a space adjacent a rear side of the rack. A method of cooling a heat-generating device mounted in or on a cable management rack includes providing a sideways flow of cooling air into the rack and into the device.

Cable management system including airflow functionality

A cage nut assembly is provided for retaining a nut within a cage's nut capture region defined by a base with a hole substantially in its center, two lateral truss integral with the base and perpendicular to each other, and two upwardly extending arms also integral with the base. The two upwardly extending arms form a C-shaped head at the distal end that extend over the nut capture region. Thus a nut disposed in said cage is substantially flush with the base of said cage. A multiple cage nut assembly is provided for retaining a nut within cage's plurality of nut capture regions. One such nut capture region being defined by a base with a hole substantially in its center, two lateral truss integral with the base and perpendicular to each other, and two upwardly extending arms also integral with the base. The two upwardly extending arms form a C-shaped head at the distal end that extend over the nut capture region. Thus a nut disposed in said cage is substantially flush with the base of said cage. At least one other nut capture region being defined by a base with a hole substantially in its center, two lateral truss integral with the base and perpendicular to each other, and two upwardly extending arms also integral with the base. The two upwardly extending arms form a head with a bearing surface at the distal end that extend over the nut capture region. Thus a nut disposed in said cage is substantially flush with the base of said cage.

A cable management rack is provided within which or upon which a heat-generating device is mountable, and which encompasses a vertical rectangular frame open in a front and a rear of the frame. The rack includes a first upright and a second upright attached to opposite respective lateral sides of a base and a top member, and respective side-facing panels. Each of the panels defines a plurality of vent holes arranged in an array and permit the rack to receive a sideways flow of cooling air into a first side of the rack through one of the vent hole arrays for cooling a heat-generating device mounted between the panels, and permit the rack to discharge a sideways flow of exhaust air through the other vent hole array. Each of the array of vent holes may manifest a honeycomb pattern of vent holes, and each of the vent holes may manifest an hexagonal shape. A cable management system includes a cable management rack for accommodating a heat generating device, a first baffle mounted with respect to a first upright of the rack and for redirecting a rearward flow of cool air sideways from a space adjacent a front side of the rack, and a second baffle mounted with respect to a second upright of the rack and for redirecting a sideways flow of exhaust air from the rack and through the second upright into a space adjacent a rear side of the rack. A method of cooling a heat-generating device mounted in or on a cable management rack includes providing a sideways flow of cooling air into the rack and into the device.

A patch panel rack including a front face and an opening formed in the front face configured and dimensioned to receive and accommodate for mounting with respect to the patch panel rack at least one patch panel, further includes a waterfall member connected to the front face of the patch panel rack, the waterfall member including a horizontally extending surface positioned in front of the front face just below the opening formed therein, and at least one curved drop-off portion positioned adjacent the horizontally extending surface and sized, shaped, oriented, and configured to permit electrical cables extending vertically upward from electrical equipment disposed beneath the waterfall member to the patch panel mounted above the waterfall member to maintain a desired bend radius. The patch panel rack may be mounted to a cable management pathway substantially above a telecommunications cabinet to allow cables passing therebetween to maintain a desired bend radius.

Rack systems are provided for use in mounting or positioning of electronic components and other equipment. The disclosed rack systems that are seismically sound and adapted for packaging/shipment in a disassembled condition. The rack systems include at least one upright, a base assembly and a top frame assembly. The base assembly includes a base unit, at least one internal upright brace and at least one external upright brace. The base assembly defines a bounded region for receipt of an upright. Similarly, the top frame assembly defines a bounded region for receipt of the opposite end of the upright. When assembled at a desired location, the disclosed rack systems comply with applicable seismic-related design and performance parameters, including specifically the Zone 4 standard, and accommodate desirable cable management functions.

The present disclosure provides for assemblies and methods for mounting a patch panel rack to a wire cable management pathway. A waterfall base is mounted with respect to and in between a pair of mounting brackets. Each of the pair of mounting brackets includes a support surface defining a top portion and a bottom portion, a front side surface and a rear side surface. The top portion associated with the support surface includes at least one upwardly extending wire cable management pathway mounting feature adapted to securely mount the pair of mounting brackets with respect to a wire cable management pathway. The wire management pathway mounting feature can be at least one substantially curved mounting clip feature having a horizontally extending fold over tab defining a gap opening to receive at least one wire associated with a wire cable management pathway. The curved mounting clip feature is fabricated to substantially curve inwardly with respect to the waterfall base thereby substantially defining a U-shape geometry. In an further exemplary embodiment, the top portion associated with the support surface includes a plurality of upwardly extending wire cable management pathway mounting features.

A curved or arcuate patch panel is configured to be mounted to a rack or console. The patch panel facilitates cable management functions and enhances space utilization at and around the rack/patch panel assembly. The patch panel includes an elongated patch panel element having a predominantly curved length extent and exhibiting a peak region, preferably located at the center of the patch panel. The patch panel also includes flange members that extend from the elongated patch panel element, and that define a mounting face for the patch panel. Optionally, the flange members further define an extension arm that is intermediate to the mounting face and the elongated patch panel element. The extension arm is dimensioned to facilitate at least partial recessing of the elongated patch panel element relative to the rack/console when the patch panel is mounted thereto.

A methods for mounting, opening, closing and releasing a door assembly relative to a mounting structure employ a first structure that defines at least one elongated guide channel and a latching subassembly that is adapted to be mounted with respect to the foregoing guide channel and to rotate with respect thereto. Rotation of the latching subassembly with respect to the guide channel allows a latching region, e.g., a V-shaped latching region, to move between a first position (wherein the latching region is adapted to receive the mounting structure) and a second position (wherein the latching region cannot receive the mounting structure). In the second position, the latching region (in combination with the guide channel) is structured to capture the mounting structure (e.g., a projection associated with a cable management system) therewithin.

An angled patch panel is provided that is configured to be mounted to a rack or console. The angled patch panel facilitates cable management functions and enhances space utilization at and around the rack/patch panel assembly. The angled patch panel includes first and second patch panel elements that are angularly oriented with respect to each other. The transition from the first patch panel element to the second patch panel element is generally achieved in an apex region. The angled patch panel also includes flange members that extend from the first and second patch panel elements. Each of the flange members define a mounting face and an extension arm that is intermediate the mounting face and the patch panel element. The extension arm is dimensioned to facilitate at least partial recessing of the angled patch panel relative to the rack/console when the angled patch panel is mounted thereto.

A cable management system is provided that facilitates routing of cables from a rack, frame or cabinet. The cable management system may be mounted in a vertical or a horizontal orientation, and generally includes a wire cage assembly and at least one cable guide mounted to the wire cage assembly. The wire cage assembly is fabricated from vertical and horizontal wires, such that open regions are positioned for advantageous interaction with the disclosed cable guide. The cable guide generally includes an elongated member, a plurality of projection arms extending from the elongated member; and at least one L-shaped latching member extending from the elongated member. The cable guide advantageously mounts to the wire cage assembly through a latching mechanism that interacts with the back wall of the wire cage assembly. A method for mounting the cable guide(s) to the wire cage assembly is also provided.
