An electrical connector assembly includes a connector housing, a planar busbar having a rectangular cross section defining two opposed major surfaces and four minor surfaces, a cooling plate that is sized, shaped, and arranged to be in conductive thermal contact with a first major surface of the planar busbar, and an L-shaped busbar partially disposed within the connector housing having a first end connected to an electrical terminal and having a second end attached to, and in conductive thermal contact with, a second major surface of the planar busbar. The cooling plate is configured to reduce a temperature of the planar busbar and the attached L-shaped busbar. A method of assembling such an electrical connector is also presented.

An electrical bus bar assembly includes an elongate flexible electrical conductor formed of a strip of electrically conductive material having a generally rectangular cross section and a width to thickness ratio of at least 20:1 and a dielectric material covering a central portion of the electrical conductor such that the electrical conductor has exposed distal portions at each end of the assembly. Further, a method for forming such as assembly includes the steps of forming a flexible strip from an electrically conductive sheet such that the strip has a generally rectangular cross section with a width to thickness ratio of at least 20:1 and covering a central portion of the strip with a dielectric material and leaving distal portions at each end exposed.

Flexible electrical bus bar and method of manufacturing the same

An electrical connector includes a first-housing having a first-electrical-terminal, and a second-housing including a second-electrical-terminal disposed within a protective-shroud. The second-electrical-terminal includes a planar blade-shaped isolator formed of a dielectric material. The planar blade-shaped isolator has a spine, a tip, and a web. The tip includes a plurality of locating-tabs extending along the longitudinal-axis from a mid-line of the tip and overlaying the web. The second-electrical-terminal has a conductor formed of a single piece of electrically conductive-material. The conductor has a first-side that overlays a second-side and defining a U-shaped bend and a gap between the first-side and the second side. The gap is configured to receive the plurality of locating-tabs.

High-current electrical terminal

An electrical-terminal includes a planar blade-shaped isolator and a conductor. The planar blade-shaped isolator is formed of a dielectric material having a spine, a tip, and a web. The spine extends along a longitudinal-axis. The tip extends along a lateral-axis, and the web extends from the spine and terminates at the tip. The web defines a slot extending in the lateral direction from and normal to the spine. The conductor has a first-side that overlays a second-side and defines a U-shaped bend and a gap between the first-side and the second side. The U-shaped bend is aligned parallel to and opposite the spine. The conductor includes a conductive stand-off located intermediate the first side and the second side of the conductor. The conductive stand-off is disposed within the slot of the web such that the first-side and the second-side are in further electrical contact through the conductive stand-off.

An electrical connector assembly includes a planar terminal portion formed of a copper-based material having a connection end and an attachment end. The assembly also includes a U-shaped retainer portion having a first side wall attached to the connection end, a second side wall separated from and substantially parallel to the first side wall, and an end wall interconnecting the first side wall and the second side wall. The connection end is located intermediate the first side wall and the second side wall. The assembly further includes a resilient spring disposed intermediate the second side wall and the terminal portion and attached to the second side wall. The spring is configured to exert a normal connection force on the connection end and a mating connector inserted into a gap between the spring and the connection end.

Electrical connector assembly

An electronic assembly including a printed circuit board (PCB), a housing, and a shock absorbing device that is intermediate the printed circuit board and the housing. The shock absorbing device is formed of an insulative and compliant material, such as a thermoplastic elastomer material. The side walls of the shock absorbing device defines a groove surrounds and at least partially encloses the edges of the printed circuit board. The shock absorbing device defines an aperture through which a fastener is configured to pass to secure the shock absorbing device to the housing and thus securing the printed circuit board within the housing. The shock absorbing device is intermediate the fastener and the printed circuit board so that there is no direct contact between the fastener and the printed circuit board which could transmit impact shock directly from the housing to the printed circuit board.

A connector handle for an electric vehicle battery charger is provided. The connector handle includes a latch that is operable to a locked position and an unlocked position. The connector handle also includes an electric circuit configured to provide an enable indication and a disable indication. The connector handle also includes an actuator button moveable to a first position where the latch is in the locked position and the electric circuit provides the enable indication, a second position where the latch is in the locked position and the electric circuit provides the disable indication, and a third position where the latch is in the unlocked position and the electric circuit provides the disable indication.

A communication port is susceptible to contaminates such as dirt, dust, and moisture if not properly protected. A communication port that automatically protects against contaminates includes a housing defining an opening and configured to receive a device connector. A face plate is disposed on the housing. The face plate defines a window generally aligned with the opening. A door is slideably disposed on the housing and biased toward a position covering the opening and the window. Exerting a force on the door exposes the opening and the window.

An electrical connector has a connector body. A pin block disposed in the connector body supports a plurality of terminal pins that are arranged in horizontal rows that are vertically spaced with the terminal pins in each row being laterally spaced from each other. The terminal pins have contact portions projecting out a forward end of the pin block and tail portions projecting out a rearward end of the pin block. The tail portions of the terminal pins in an uppermost row of the plurality of terminal pins have straight tail portions. The connector body has a socket at a forward end, an intermediate retainer section holding the pin block and a tail guard at a rearward end for protecting the projecting tail portions of the terminal pins. The tail guard has a top wall that includes an aft portion that is behind pin block and that is raised to accommodate elastic bending of the straight tail portions of the terminal pins in the uppermost row upward to an inclined position by a sufficient amount so that the subsequent over bending of the straight tail portions downwardly in situ forms an acute angle in the straight tail portions thus providing perpendicular tail ends for connection to a printed circuit board while maintaining a low profile of the intermediate retainer section that houses the pin block and the socket.
