A method for compacting trash while in-flight includes moving a storage chamber into a chamber operating position within a dead space inaccessible from in front of a galley, securing the storage chamber in the chamber operating position, executing a compaction cycle, and removing the storage chamber into a chamber maintenance position in which compacted trash is removable from the storage chamber accessible from in front of the galley.

Space-saving in-flight trash compactor

A reconfigurable vent system in fluid communication with an air chiller to deliver chill air to one or more galley food and beverage storage compartments in parallel is reconfigurable to operate in either of an air-through or an air-over orientation. The reconfigurable vent system comprises a vent in fluid communication with the air chiller via a duct and configured to provide the chill air to the one or more galley food and beverage storage compartments. The vent directs the chill air substantially toward the interior of the one or more galley food and beverage storage compartments in the air-through orientation at a first angle, and the vent directs the chill air substantially around the one or more galley food and beverage storage compartments in the air-over orientation at a second angle different from the first angle.

Reconfigurable chilled air outlet for an aircraft gallery chiller

A point-of-use air chiller unit for an aircraft galley cart compartment is provided comprising a generally flattened rectangular case, comprising two main surfaces having a substantially larger surface area than four remaining surfaces of the case, a condenser, a compressor, an evaporator, and an evaporator fan, wherein the condenser, compressor, and evaporator are connected in a standard refrigeration manner, and a plane parallel to the main surfaces passes through the condenser, the compressor, the evaporator, and the evaporator fan.

Wall-mounted point-of-use air chiller for aircraft galley cart compartment

A trash compaction system includes a trash receptacle through which trash is input; a compaction chamber in which trash is compacted; and a compactor mechanism operatively coupled with the compaction chamber to compact trash in a direction generally perpendicular to a direction in which the compaction chamber receives the trash. The compaction chamber has a closeable receiving opening in communication with the trash receptacle to receive trash into the compaction chamber. The closeable receiving opening is closeable by a movable cover positioned between the trash receptacle and the compaction chamber. The compaction chamber also has a closeable ejection opening through which the compacted trash is ejected.

Modular apparatus and method for compacting trash

A space-saving in-flight trash compactor, comprising a trash chute, a compactor mechanism, and a storage chamber that includes an interface for the trash chute. Trash deposited in the trash chute is channeled into the storage chamber. Either or both of the compactor mechanism and the storage chamber are rotatably attached to one or two axles. During maintenance or trash removal, the compactor mechanism or storage chamber may swivel around an axle to permit ease of access.

A vacuum waste system for use in a vehicle, such as a aircraft. The vacuum waste system includes a lightweight base assembly and a lightweight toilet bowl assembly mounted to the top of the base assembly. The toilet bowl assembly has downwardly extending members that engage in a sliding manner with horizontally extending members at the top of the base assembly to thus secure the toilet bowl assembly to the base assembly. A fastener, such as a nut and bolt assembly, can be coupled to the toilet bowl assembly and base assembly using a tool to thus secure the toilet bowl assembly to the base assembly.
