High-strength microwave antenna assemblies and methods of use are described herein. The microwave antenna has a radiating portion connected by a feedline to a power generating source, e.g., a generator. Proximal and distal radiating portions of the antenna assembly are separated by a junction member. A reinforcing member is disposed within the junction member to increase structural rigidity.

Reinforced high strength microwave antenna

A method of manufacturing a microwave antenna assembly includes the step of providing a proximal portion having an inner conductor and an outer conductor. Each of the inner and outer conductors extend through the proximal portion and the inner conductor is disposed within the outer conductor. The method also includes the step of placing a junction member adjacent to a distal end of the proximal portion such that the inner conductor extends through a channel defined in the junction member. The method also includes the step of placing a proximal end of a distal portion adjacent to a distal end of the junction member such that the inner conductor extends within a channel defined within the distal portion. The method also includes the step of affixing the inner conductor to the distal portion such that the proximal portion and the distal portion apply a compressive force on the junction member.

Method of manufacturing a microwave antenna assembly

Various high-strength microwave antenna assemblies are described herein. The microwave antenna has a radiating portion connected by a feedline to a power generating source, e.g., a generator. The antenna is a dipole antenna with the distal end of the radiating portion being tapered and terminating at a tip to allow for direct insertion into tissue. Antenna rigidity comes from placing distal and proximal radiating portions in a pre-stressed state, assembling them via threaded or overlapping joints, or fixedly attaching an inner conductor to the distal portion. The inner conductor is affixed to the distal portion by, e.g., welding, brazing, soldering, or by adhesives. A junction member made from a hard dielectric material, e.g., ceramic, can be placed between the two portions and can have uniform or non-uniform shapes to accommodate varying antenna designs. Electrical chokes may also be used to contain returning currents to the distal end of the antenna.

High-strength microwave antenna assemblies

This invention is an improved tissue localizing device for fixedly yet removably marking a volume of tissue containing a suspect region for excision. This invention also encompasses methods for deployment of the localizing device and its excision along with the marked tissue volume. At least one locator element is deployed into tissue and assumes a predetermined curvilinear shape to define a tissue border containing a suspect tissue region along a path. The locator element path preferably encompasses the distalmost portion of the tissue volume without penetrating that volume. Multiple locator elements may be deployed to further define the tissue volume along additional paths defining the tissue volume border that do not penetrate the volume. Other localization wire embodiments of the invention are disclosed in which the tissue volume may be penetrated by a portion of the device. Polar and tangential deployment configurations as well as a locator element that may be cold-formed by a die in the distal portion of the deployment tube into a permanent arcuate shape are also disclosed.

Device for accurately marking tissue

Devices and methods for achieving directed placement of guidewires or other flexible rails over which other catheters or other devices may be introduced to a targeted location. A guidewire directing device includes a lumen extending between a proximal end and a distal peripheral opening for directing a guidewire laterally from the device, and may have a deflecting member with a predetermined deflection angle in the lumen adjacent the peripheral opening. A snaring device is also provided that includes one or more lumens through which a snare or other grasping member is directed for releasably capturing or coupling to a guidewire. The snaring and target guidewire devices may include cooperating end effectors for releasably coupling or securing the devices together. The devices may be used for directing, snaring and/or manipulating one or more guidewires between two blood vessels connected by an interstitial channel, for example, to 'floss' a guidewire through the coronary arterial and venous systems between two percutaneous entry sites and/or to bypass a lesion in a vessel using proximal and distal interstitial channels communicating with an adjacent vessel.

Systems and methods for directing and snaring guidewires

A plastically deformable stent for implantation within a body passage includes a plurality of cylindrical segments, and a plurality of connectors extending between adjacent segments. Each segment has an alternating pattern of curvilinear elements extending about its circumference, including first and second sets of curvilinear elements having different resistances to expansion, and preferably defining 'U' shapes with alternating lengths that are connected to one another to define a substantially sinusoidal pattern. The connectors define a sinusoidal shape adapted to extend and compress axially substantially evenly when the adjacent segments are subjected to bending. The stent may be delivered on a device including an elongate member with a nose cone, an expandable member, and a proximal shoulder thereon, and an outer sheath for slidably receiving the elongate member therein. The outer sheath and/or nose cone may have perfusion holes for allowing continued perfusion of fluid during stent delivery. The device may be used in a method for implanting a stent within a curved region of a body passage, particularly for creating and/or maintaining a channel connecting a vein to an adjacent artery, preferably in the coronary system.

Deformable scaffolding multicellular stent

The present invention provides modular bifurcated intraluminal tubular prostheses, particularly stents and stent-grafts, for the treatment of disease conditions, particularly aneurysms. Modular sections of the prostheses, or 'prosthetic modules,' may be selectively assembled to form a prosthesis having characteristics which are tailored to the specific requirements of the patient, including branch angle and branch lumen sizes which match the patients vascular geometry. A Y-connector prosthetic module structure provides support and separation for each of the adjacent branching lumens. Radiopaque markers on the prostheses promote alignment between prosthetic modules and with the body lumen system.

Bifurcated intraluminal prostheses construction and methods

An apparatus and method for fabricating a carbon thin film are disclosed in the present invention. The apparatus includes a vacuum chamber having a substrate mounted therein, a sputter target inside the vacuum chamber facing into the substrate, a cesium supplying unit inside the vacuum chamber in a shape of a shield to a circumference of the target and supplying cesium vapor onto a surface of the sputter target through a plurality of openings, and a heating wire surrounding the cesium supplying unit and maintaining the cesium supplying unit at a constant pressure.

Apparatus and method for fabricating carbon thin film

A method for fabricating a PDP is disclosed. The method for fabricating a PDP including the steps of preparing first and second panels for connecting with each other, forming at least one electrode on the first panel, forming a dielectric layer of PbO on the first panel, sequentially forming Cr and Ni on the PbO layer as a mask material of the PbO layer, performing photolithography and lift-off processes on the Ni/Cr layers to form a mask pattern of Ni/Cr, and etching the PbO layer using the mask pattern of Ni/Cr to form at least one capillary tube within the PbO layer to expose the electrode.

Method of fabricating capillary discharge plasma display panel using lift-off process

A method of fabricating a plasma display panel includes forming one or more electrodes on a substrate, forming a dielectric layer on the first electrode including the substrate, laminating a dry film photoresist on the dielectric layer, patterning the dry film photoresist using a mask, forming one or more capillary discharge sites in the dielectric layer using sand blasting, and removing the patterned dry film photoresist from the substrate. Method of forming capillary discharge site of plasma display panel using sand blasting

A method and an apparatus for treating a workpiece using a plasma are disclosed in the present invention. In treating a workpiece using a plasma, the apparatus includes at least one pin electrode for receiving a power source, a dielectric body having first and second sides, wherein the first side is coupled to the pin electrode and the second side has at least one capillary extending to a direction of the first side of the dielectric body, and each capillary is substantially aligned with each pin electrode, and a counter electrode electrically coupled to the pin electrode for generating the plasma from each capillary.

Method and apparatus having pin electrode for surface treatment using capillary discharge plasma
