Through-holes are formed at a constant pitch along a side-edge portion of a fastener tape where a tape base fabric is covered by a waterproof layer, the through-holes piercing the fastener tape. Plasma treatment or corona treatment is applied to the side-edge portion of the fastener tape so as to form an activation region on a surface of the waterproof layer on one or both sides of the fastener tape. Injection molding of fastener elements is performed to attach the fastener elements to the side-edge portion of the fastener tape. Melted resin adheres to the activation region and fills the through-hole before solidifying into the fastener element.

Waterproof fastener stringer and method of producing the same

A slide fastener chain includes first and second rows of coupling elements mounted on first and second longitudinal edges of the first and second fastener tapes. When the first and second rows of coupling elements are interdigitated, the first and second longitudinal edges remain spaced apart, and a first coupling element of the first row is received between two adjacent coupling elements of the second row such that: the groove of the first coupling element receives, in a first contact region, a portion of the second longitudinal edge, one of the grooves of the adjacent coupling elements receives, in a fourth contact region, a first portion of the first longitudinal edge, and another of the grooves of the adjacent coupling elements receives, in a fifth contact region, a second portion of the first longitudinal edge.

Slide fastener chain and slide fastener

A first tape having a first edge is provided. The first tape is provided with a row of coupling elements along the first edge of the first tape. The coupling elements are configured to interdigitate with a further row of coupling elements. A first layer of a fluid resistant material is attached to the first tape. An extending layer of a fluid resistant material is attached to the first layer. The extending layer forms an extension member including a first overhang portion which extends beyond a second edge opposite the first edge. The first layer of the fluid resistant material is attached to the first tape and the extending layer is attached to the first layer.

Method of manufacturing portion of slide fastener

A waterproof slide fastener is provided. A pair of tapes has coupling elements attached thereto. A coating of polymeric material is provided on at least one surface of the tape and extends continuously therealong. The coating includes in cross-section a fin with a bulbous region. The coating is not extendable beyond the coupling elements when the slide fastener is in an open arrangement.

Waterproof slide fastener

A zip fastener including fabric tapes having coupling elements thereon is provided. A coating layer of thermoplastic material is provided on at least one first surface of the fastener tapes. The coating layer extends continuously along the first surface, extends over an edge of the fastener tapes and extends along at least one second surface of the fastener tapes.
