An inkjet printing system, including an inlet in a print head to receive ink from an ink supply, a plurality of nozzles to eject ink in the print head, an ink pressure sensor disposed in an ink path, the ink pressure sensor configured to determine an ink pressure of the ink in the print head and output a signal indicating the ink pressure, and a controller in the print head configured to receive and process the signal indicating the ink pressure from the ink pressure sensor. The inkjet printing system may also include a memory to store an ink pressure and time profile. The controller may also output a signal to stop ejecting ink from the plurality of nozzles when the ink pressure is either below a negative threshold or above a positive threshold.

A fluid sensor has a first electrode, a second electrode, a housing containing the first and second electrodes, such that the electrodes extend from the housing, exposed metal between the first and second electrodes, and a drive signal electrically connected to the second electrode, such that when fluid is present in the reservoir, either the first electrode senses the presence of the fluid, or the drive signal senses presence of the fluid. A fluid sensor has a first electrode, a second electrode, a housing containing the first and second electrodes, a drive signal electrically connected to the second electrode, and sensing circuitry to measure a current from the second electrode to indicate a fluid level.

A system for recycling waste phase change ink in a phase change ink imaging device includes a waste ink collector positioned within a phase change ink imaging device to collect waste phase change ink produced by a printhead in the phase change ink imaging device. The waste ink collector includes a heater for heating the waste phase change ink in the collector to at least a phase change ink melting temperature. A waste phase change ink conveyor is configured to convey melted waste phase change ink from the waste ink collector to an ink reservoir for the printhead.

A system for recycling waste phase change ink in a phase change ink imaging device includes a printhead having an on-board phase change ink reservoir and a waste ink collector for receiving ink from an ejecting face of the printhead. The printhead is supplied ink from a remote ink reservoir, which is also fluidly connected to the waste ink collector by a waste phase change ink conveyor, which is configured to convey melted waste phase change ink from the waste ink collector to the remote ink reservoir.

Waste phase change ink recycling

A method of recycling waste phase change ink includes collecting waste phase change ink in a container in a phase change ink imaging device. The waste phase change ink comprises melted phase change ink emitted by at least one print head in the phase change ink imaging device. The collected waste phase change ink is removed from the phase change ink imaging device, and at least a portion of the collected waste phase change ink removed from the imaging device is added to a quantity of melted phase change ink.

A printing system includes a print head to deliver ink to an image receptor and at least one ink reservoir to deliver ink to the print head. Driving circuitry provides signals to the print head to control delivery of the ink and a flexible circuit interposed between the print head and the ink reservoirs connects the driving circuitry to the print head. The flexible circuit may include a heater to provide heat to the ink reservoirs. Alternatively, the flexible circuit may be replaced with a rigid substrate having a heater within its layers.

A drop emitting apparatus that includes an ink jet printhead, a plurality of on-board ink reservoirs for supplying ink to the ink jet printhead, a plurality of remote ink containers, a plurality of ink supply conduits fluidically connected between the remote ink containers and the on-board ink reservoirs, and an air conduit for selectively providing compressed air to the on-board ink reservoirs.
