Embodiments of the present invention are directed to systems and methods for writing on electronic paper ('e-paper') and display platforms implemented with e-paper. In one aspect, a system for writing information to electronic paper includes a writing module and an erasing unit connected to the writing module. The erasing unit is configured to erase information stored in the electronic paper. The system also includes a writing unit connected to the writing module and is configured to write information to the electronic paper. Information is written to the electronic paper by orienting the writing module so that the electronic paper passes the erasing unit prior to passing the writing unit.

Methods and compositions for diagnosing and monitoring transplant rejection

A method is provided for multiple target screening for drug assays utilizing a nanocalorimeter. The method includes depositing a drop containing a plurality of drug targets and another drop containing a plurality of drug candidates upon a test substrate. The drops are merged and a determination is made as to whether a reaction has occurred between the drops. Electronic writing systems and methods are described. In one aspect, an electronic writing system includes an elongated housing, an inertial sensor, an optical sensor, and a tracking module. The elongated housing has an optical input. The inertial sensor is attached to the housing and is operable to generate data indicative of movement of the housing relative to an inertial reference frame. The optical sensor is attached to the housing and is operable to generate data from light received through the optical input. The tracking module is operable to compute relative displacement data from inertial movement data corresponding to data generated by the inertial sensor. The tracking module also is operable to detect at least one calibrated position from calibration data encoded in optical data generated from light received by the optical sensor.

Electronic writing systems and methods

Optically detectable data encoding layouts for surfaces includes a primary lattice and a secondary lattice formed in interstitial areas between plural points on the primary lattice and one or more markings located on points on the secondary lattice. The primary lattice defines the layout of the secondary lattice. The data is encoded according to the positions of the markings on the secondary lattice. The layout provides absolute or relative page position encoding because, when the markings are imaged and decoded, the decoded data corresponds to the position of the corresponding marking on the surface.

Optical coding of position information on printed surfaces

Novel peptides that are capable of binding to uPAR and inhibiting the binding of an integrin and vitronectin are described. Also provided are nucleic acid sequences encoding the novel peptides. Methods for screening for small molecules, other peptides, or peptoids that mimic the antagonistic function of the peptides of the invention are described. The invention has applications in design of therapeutics for treating disorders characterized by upregulation of uPA and uPAR, and cancer and chronic inflammation, cell migration or uPAR: integrin binding interactions, and diagnostical applications to such disorders.
