A composition and a method for preparing a polymer composite article. The composition comprises (A) a filler in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. %. The composition also comprises (B) a polymer in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. %, wherein the (B) polymer comprises a polyvinyl. Further, the composition comprises (C) an organopolysiloxane in an amount of from greater than 0 to 10 wt. %; the (C) organopolysiloxane having at least one silicon-bonded hydroxyl group and a viscosity of from 1,000 to 60,000 mPa·s at 25° C. The ranges for components (A)-(C) are based on the total weight of components (A), (B) and (C) in the composition.

Composition, polymer composite article formed therewith, and method of preparing same

The present invention relates to non-oriented and oriented polyvinyl chloride pipe comprising: a) polyvinyl chloride; b) from 2 to 5 parts by weight of polymeric processing aid per 100 parts by weight of the polyvinyl chloride; and c) from 1.6 to 2.0 parts by weight percent of a paraffin wax per 100 parts by weight of the polyvinyl chloride. The polyvinyl chloride pipe of the present invention comprises a concentration of paraffin wax lubricant (&#x3e;1.5 parts per 100 parts polyvinyl chloride) heretofore unrecognized in the art, without the loss of key physical properties.

Poly(vinyl chloride), when impact modified with a core/shell acrylic impact modifier whose shell is predominantly formed from 50-90 parts of polymerized units of methyl methacrylate and 10-50 parts of polymeric units of a C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 alkyl acrylate and whose core is a crosslinked copolymer mainly of polymeric units of butyl acrylate, exhibits improved fusion behavior, allowing conversion to an intimate, fused, processable blend at lower temperatures and faster rates, than when the shell of the impact modifier is substantially formed from methyl methacrylate alone.
