The present invention relates to a method of providing product consistency of a particulate material or the product containing the same, by measuring and/or analyzing at least one interfacial potential property value of the particulate material. The method may be used as a QA/QC method to insure product consistency.

Methods of providing product consistency

The present invention relates to a method of selecting and/or developing particulate material for a composition comprising the particulate material and a matrix by using at least one homogeneous interaction parameter alone or in combination with at least one heterogeneous interaction parameter. These parameters may comprise at least one interfacial potential property value, at least one value derived from an interfacial potential property value, at least one component of an interfacial potential property value, or combinations thereof for a particulate material and for the matrix. Process and performance maps, as well as methods for mapping, are also disclosed.

Methods of selecting and developing a particulate material

The present invention relates to a method of specifying a batch, lot, or shipment of particulate material by using at least one interfacial potential property value to specify the batch, lot, or shipment of particulate material. A method of representing a grade, brand, or type of particulate material is also disclosed. At least one morphological value and/or chemical value may also be included. The values can be included on a product specification sheet.

Carbon foams and methods of making the same

An elastomeric composition is described which comprises at least one elastomeric component, at least one reinforcing filler, and at least one wet skid enhancing filler, for improving the wet skid resistance of the resultant composition. The wet skid enhancing filler is defined by a high Moh's hardness and large particle size. The resulting composition exhibits improved wet skid resistance compared to the same composition having no wet skid enhancing filler. Articles made from the elastomeric compositions are also described as well as methods of improving wet skid resistance and methods of making wet skid resistant materials.

Silicone rubber compositions are disclosed including a silicone polymer and a silicon-treated carbon black. The silicon-treated carbon blacks include a silicon-containing compound that is distributed through at least a portion of the carbon black aggregate. The silicon-treated carbon black is incorporated within a silicone rubber composition as an alternative reinforcing and extending filler, imparting higher hardness to elastomers formed from the composition, when compared to silicone rubber compositions incorporating an untreated carbon black.

The present invention includes metal oxide foam particles and a method of making the same. A decomposable metal salt feed solution is injected into a hot atomizing gas. The mixture of hot atomizing gas and feed solution is maintained in the reactor until the feed solution converts to metal oxide foam particles. The metal oxide foam particles have a high specific surface area.

The present invention relates to alumina oxide particles having an internal foam structure and a method of making the same. The method first creates foam particles of aluminum sulfate and, subsequently, converts the aluminum sulfate to aluminum oxide particles with the same internal foam structure. The aluminum oxide foam particles made by this method have large specific surface areas and pore volumes.
